Default Thermostat - Keeping cool

Can anyone tell me the OEM temperature specs for a B18C? My car is turbo-charged and is having troubles in the city (especially if sun is out). The highway it does fine. I think it struggles in the city because the intercooler pretty much covers the entire bumper and restricts air-flow to the radiator. I have seen several street driven Hondas with bigger setups drive in the city. So any help will be appreciated.

I have been looking into buying a better thermostat to hopefully brings temperatures down. I have seen thermostats as low as 170 degrees. But a few sites say that 170 is the OEM temp. Can someone please clarify this or has any other ideas to keep cool?

PS - I do have my manifold and down-pipe wrapped already.

Factory thermo opens at 90C or about 195F. There are some 80C thermo's on the market. Jackson Racing makes one but I don't think in your case it will make much of a difference.

What kind of fan are you running? You might want to try and run an FAL or something that has a shroud built onto it.

178-180 is factory temp.

Don't run an aftermarket lower temp thermostat. They don't allow for proper warm-up.

I am running a Fluidyne with 12" fan. Not sure of the brand, may be FAL. I will have to check when I can.

Would you suggest trying another OEM thermostat? I have also heard of people drilling larger holes in the OEM thermostat but I don't know how I feel about that.

Any other ideas?

Just make a manual switch for your fan so it can stay on all the time while city driving. Trust me it works really well. I did this for 2 of my friends and now they dont over heat.
