Default Thermo-tech turbo insulating kit???

Anyone tried it??? Is it worth the 100 bux-I'm betting it is cuz I don't even want to know what my underhood temps have been in the 95+ deg. weather!!! Any positive feedback would be excellente'!!!

Why not just use heat tape? It would perform the same function, increase the inner temps to increase the velocity. Summit has 15ft rolls of the stuff for $9. I think some people recommended against it on turbo manifolds though due to cracking.

I wrapped my Turbo Mani in Thermo-Tech Heat Wrap.
Mariah Racing in Santa Barbara (They build RX-7 Race Cars) recommends heat wrapping Mani's,DP and Turbo's

Are you talking about the heat-wrap or the "turbo blanket" that sits around the turbine housing? Both are definitely an option to help the underhood temps...but a very inexpensive way to reduce the UHT is to use spacers/washers on the hood hinges to kick up the windshield side of the hood up a bit to let heat escape.

or

which will help spool up time and flow a bit increasing efficiency and keeping the UHT down a bit

I appreciate all your guys input!!! And I have yet to put spacers on my hood hinges but that is a good idea so I may do that soon!!! But I also definately want to wrap my mani. and dp!!!

The Thermo Tec turbo insulating kit is not quite a blanket I don't believe-it looks more like a strip of adhesive wrap that goes directly on the exhaust side of the turbo housing that is also held on with some ss ties/clamps-but I'm not sure thats why I was asking!!! I have also seen those turbo blankets-and they look simple and effective but I just like that you get a lil more from thermo tec for 90 bux where as just the blanket on ebay is like 120 shipped!!!

heat tape won't stick on a turbine housing. Besides, heat tape is made for reflectivity.

The turbo blankets are awesome.

The only coatings worth getting are HPC high temp coatings. No ceramic coat will last as long or look as good as an HPC coat.

Get a good turbo blanket and you won't be sorry. Your underhood temps will go WAY down. And then wrap your downpipe too.

They used to have that gold ceramic coating available like on that manifold on the top right of their homepage...but no longer Isht was the ****!
