is there a lubricant especially for BOVs?
i'm using a blitz BOV. the one with the trumphet like outlet.
one evening, i was wondering if my BOV is open or close at idle so i sprayed some carb cleaner through the opening while idling.
the next day, my BOV is not blowing off anymore during low rpm run like it used to. it doesn't blow off anymore at 5k rpm in neutral like it used to.
i checked the BOV and i found out it was stuck open and had a hard time shutting close. it seems that the carb cleaner i sprayed washes whatever lubricant is in there making it bind. i took out the BOV and put some engine oil on the valve and use my hands to compress the spring several times to lubricate the entire valve body.
i did a test drive but it's still not blowing off loud enough like it used to whether driving at low rpm or at neutral. i checked the BOV again at neutral and it's still binding a bit coz it's shutting a bit slow.
i wasn't aware that any lube was present inside the BOV and i didn't know that carb cleaner would washed away the lubricant easily.
is my BOV broken already? is there any special lubricant for these BOV?
thanks.
