Default Tapping new sources for vacume................

Ok, when I get my AVCR tommrow, I will be tapping new holesin the intercooler piping.

My question is, does it matter what size the lines are? Today I bought a 1/8" npt to a 1/4" hose. I thought the bigger the better. Will a 1/4" hose work for tapping in the boost controller? Please let me know. Thank you.

in my opinion with a smaller diameter hose you get more consistant vacuum readings.

i would also like some new vac points, where is it recommended to tap my I/C piping? also what type of fittings should i use? just a threaded 1/8 NPT fitting? how do i make it air tight? teflon?

IC piping??? Why would you tap into IC piping, everyone hear told most people to tap off a POST throttle body line ONLY... reason being IC piping never reaches vacumm, only the intake manifold does.... something to that effect....

you must put the ports after the throttle body otherwise you'll have a boost port and not a vacuum port. what i do is take off the intake manifold and drill holes where it has a lot of meat for thread. sounds like a lot of work... but i guess thats what seperates a regular install from a professional quality install.

intektra

that's not necessary, and i highly advise you not to use jb weld. a npt thread is tapered so as you screw it in the fitting it gets progressively tighter. they make a pipe thread sealant which you apply to the fitting, so its air tight.

you are correct. The intake tubing never reaches vacuum only atmospheric or boost. You have to be past the throttle body which is at vacuum most of the time unless boosting (or WOT in NA cars). The only reason to tap the intake pipe is to make a fitting for your electronic boost controller solenoid but even that is not necessary as you can take it off the compressor.

Ok, the only reason I am doing this is for an EBC. I dont have a hole in my compressor
