Default Tall Dart! (stroking)

What exactly are my opinions with this motor??
95mm Crank + Custom 5.967 rods (will i need custom pistons for this, or could i use my 84.5mm Cps??

Stock crank + long *** custom rods?

What other thing will need to be adjustd on car.. Might have hood issues, and i will need a longer timing belt. My tuner will have to do alot more to make it work.

any ideas guys, please help...

edit: BTW ive searched my *** off, im about to call dart see what they reccomend, and im about to call crower.

maybe you could see if dart will exchange your block for a regular one. its worth a shot. I know you didnt want the tall block. My guess is that it will have alot of custom items, since most aftermarket stuff is for a stock block.

You will need custom rods no matter what crank you go with.

As far as the pistons go, you can use your 84.5mm CP's as long as the clearances are with in spec... Just make sure your bores are exactly 84.500mm for the CP's.

You can go with what ever crank you want:

Stock 87.2mm
LS 89.0mm
Stroker 92.0mm
Stroker 95.0mm

With the tall deck I would stroke it tho
You can get a stroker crank from either Eagle, Crower or Scat. They all make these sizes.

You are going to have to use a longer timing belt, I belive you can use the timing belt from a 89 teg.

As far as tuning, it shouldn't be any different from any other motor.

Make sure you clean the **** out of the water jacket, when earl and I went through mine we found alot of metal shavings in there from the machining process.

I seen you were bummed about the tall deck jordo, but keep your head up
it will be worth it in the end. With a storker crank your power band should
be nice and torquey, who know's maybe you'll start a new trend.

If his CP's are for a standard stroke they will not work correctly with a 95mm stroke and a 5.967 rod...the compression height of the pistons are different(pin height)

We use the 5.975 rod length...

Youd use the same piston if you went with a GSR/ITR or LS crank so why would it be different here? And if you had custom rods made, youd have them made to fit your pistons anyways.

But Id sell it for what you bought it for. Custom rods are gonna be $$$.

But if you build it, your gonna have one kick *** engine!

call dart, they must know what parts that block takes , if you build this tall deck block you will have a nice powerband like stated above

You really think the hood won't clear? With the stock motor there is quite a bit of room, about 2 inches or more. . .

I think he wanted to know if he could use his pistons that he allready has with a custom rod. I can not find any reason he couldn't do that.

Oh one thing you should look at Jordo is the compression. With the added stroke it will effect your compression with a given piston dome configuration.

What is the listed compression on the pistons you have?

would work out close to :

10.2/1 w/92mm crank
10.5/1 w/95mm crank

Why the heck would he get more expensive custom length rods instead of using a longer off the shelf rod length and a custom piston?

I can think of one reason...

When you have an engine failure, it is usually the piston that gets munched, melted or have close encounters with valves. With a shelf piston it makes getting a replacement much faster/easier.

Why do you assume custom pistons would be any less expensive than custom rods? Anything custom is big money.

i figured it out, if i go ahead and decide to stroke it.. itll be either
95mm Billet crower crank
Eagle long rods 5.967
Custom pistons from (raceeng.com)

or

95mm Billet Crower Crank
Crower Billet Rods a little under 6 from (raceeng.com)
Custom Pistons from (raceeng.com)

What I was trying to say is.......If he has CP's that were built for an LS or GSR they will not work with a 95mm stroke and a 5.967 rod. The compression height of the pin in his piston(if its for a LS/GSR) should be around 1.181" depending on the manufacturer. When you use the 95mm stroke crank and a 5.967" rod you cannot use that piston it will stick up out of the deck .136" ! thats alot...

He will need a piston with around 1.045" compression height so that it will stay in the block. atleast .005-.010" depending on the deck height of the block.

if he wanted to use his set of pistons he would need a rod around 5.831" then his rod ratio would be 1.55....if he uses the 95mm crank with the 5.967 rod his rod ratio will be the same as a GSR.....

I use the 95mm crank 5.967 tall deck combo alot here....

My max rev limit is 10K but I try to stay clear of that.....atleast 300-500 rpms

for the street on a T3/T4 setup a SC61 or SC63 would have full boost around 3-4Krpm and a redline of 8500rpm

If you opt for a T4 you could prolly get close to 4-4.5K rpms with a PT67 AR .68 with 84mm bore with a redline of 10K like mine.....

I see full boost around 6-6.2K rpm on our engine
