Or just open it up and run away while it sprays out.
Thats what I had to do, everywhere local to me wanted 20 bucks to pump it out with the machine.

actually its 14,975 by where I live. Yes I checked at the town hall and they could provide any means for me to get it removed for free so they pretty much told me indirectly to just release it. And dont act you like guys have never heard of or no someone if not odne it before yourself. I can name at least10 members on this board off the top of my head who have done it before. Dont act like its so terrible to do when it happens all the time. Im not sayiong I approve, in fact Id love to not release it, but not if Im going to have to pay for it.

You do realize you just made yourself look like an asshat since people have already given him some semi-helpful advice.

i already knew about getting the gas out. And ya about having th car OFF.lol. I was basically asking if it was just as easy as taking the gas out...unbolting it ..and takeing the belt of. Ive got a 94 Teg by the way.
Freon? Cars don't use freon anymore. Modern cars use R34 (aka Airsoft gas propellant) which is harmelss to the environment. I vent that **** into the atmosphere all the time.
And no, there are no special tricks to removing the a/c system. It's cake - you can do it in an hour. The only part you might not think of is that you have to remove the evaporator box, pull out the evaporator, then re-install the box to retain a functional vent/heater.

piece of cake...just make sure your face isn't near the compressor when you detatch the hose
it's nearly impossible to get ALL the gas out..so some might still come spraying at you

Well freon destroys the ozone layer, and 134a is harmless, so I'd say it's more like bringing up a valid point that being nit-picky.

Well I just removed mine and I can't think of any advice to give you. There are a lot of little things that people always forget. The relays, the idle pulley. You can either detach the engine mount or just cut off the belt. Super easy.

Might be "valid" if you had a CLUE what you were speaking of..

"As a gas, HFC-134a has a significantly larger global warming potential (GWP=1300) than many non-halocarbon working fluids. This means that emission of HFC-134a causes a significantly larger effect on global warming, compared to an equivalent amount of carbon dioxide (GWP=1 by definition)."

How about you go kill yourself for being ignorant? Stop thinking you know what you're talking about because you did a quick google search.
134a is called "Green" gas for a reason - it's environmentally friendly. That's the whole reason why it replaced R12 in the early 90's. That's also why it's illegal to dump R12 into the atmosphere but perfectly legal to dump 134a.
Do you think airsoft guns would be dumping millions of pounds of this gas into the air if posed a problem to the environment?
P.S. link does't work
