Default T70 on a B-series?

I would like to know is it possible to put a T70 on a b-series street car? How hard would it be to tune? When would full boost be met? And what type of power do you think will be obtained? I need to know what to do. Any incite appreciated.

Yes you could physically put it on there.

It would be as simple/hard to tune as any other FI setup.

Full boost would be met around the same time the motor grendades from over-revving.

Type of power? Most likely "horse".

Need to know what to do? Sell that thing to a Supra owner and get an SC61/63, T3/60-1, or something Garrett.

What a jackass the last guy was

A t70 turbo can be made to work. The turbine wheel and housing determine when it will spool up. A turbo this big is good for 750whp. Do you really need that much? This turbo has proven to work well on methanol dragsters. Is that what you want to use it for?

Just don't drop you compression too much, and invest in N2O.

Yeah I was short and snippy...

Sorry to the original poster -- my girlfriend is being a complete BITCH tonight and I'm in a horrible mood.

Like they said, the T70 would work, but you're looking at an unrealistic powerband IMO for a daily driven car... unless you're competing in a street class at the track (the car will not see REAL daily driving).

Good luck.

if hes asking these kind of questions do you seriously think hes asking them because hes considering putting it on his meth drag car? if someone has the money to build a car where a t70 is the optimal turbo, i doubt they would be asking these kinda questions on h-t...especially without posting any info on the setup and goals

its been done before. I know of a few on this board that run them. I would however not really consider it a very "street" friendly turbo. Basically your gonna drive a low compression all motor car around w/ one insane top-end once you finally get it spooled. Nowhere near useful power for the street. I am going to be running on one my new setup, PT70 P trim. However the only street use the car would ever have is just cruisin around from fab shop to dyno and track. If it dont work ill just add some nos. I would say a good very capable street turbo is a SC61, SC63 or even a T67 isnt bad. Just make sure they are all properly sized.

One question....

Why?

By the time that turbo starts up to spool, you will have to change gears.

We use a T-70 and fall OUT of boost at 6000 rpm. It would take all the fun out of street driving.

He's probably asking because that ebay kit comes w/ that T70 or T71 from Stone Mountain Racing. Basically a knock off full-race manifold w/ this huge turbo and wastegate.

Just wanted to know b/c was going 2.0 liter turbo and thought that i could run that big of a turbo. THe other option was to run a T67 which i found to spool relatively fast with cams and full port and polish. Thanks for the incited everyone

You shouldn't have any problem turning it with a 2.0L motor, the thing is it is a pretty big turbo for street driving... Once it spools it's going to hit sooo hard that you'll spin (even in your top gears, we do this with Duc's car in 5th at 120mph) then you bog when and if you have another gear to shift into... As for the what you said about cams/headwork... Yea, that'll make a little difference but it isn't the biggest factor, you should be considering displacement and compression (bottom end stuff) first... Just my $0.02, Good Luck

Does pretty good on a 1.71 Liter B16A too! You do have to SHIFT HIGH to keep from bogging! It is not that bad on the street actually in low boost.

I might throw this out there and it really doest have anything to do with the post, but Venom ran a 67mm compressor wheel when the 1st broke into the 8's and broke the record. JJ Olsen also ran a 67mm compressor and ran an 8 too. Both these car are race cars but still heavy coupes. Just food for thought if you want to run a T70.

I peronsally do not like the T70 on our race car. No transient response....

I would imagine it has similar characteristics to a .63 not divided housing. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Huh? Is that the right link? From what I see that is nothing like an SC61.
