T4 GT35R vs. T4/T67 GTQ
I am running a fully built h22 but I have a question as to when boost will start building. Comparing T4 GT35R .63 a/r hotside vs. T4/T67 GTQ .68 a/r hotside. I plan on running a Lovefab Sidewinder V1 manifold.

-Benson Sleeves
-CP 9:1
-Manley Rods
-Ported head w/ Supertech Valvetrain
-Skunk2 Intake Manifold
I am shooting for 700+hp. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Looks like you're building a street car. How much do you want to spend? I don't think either of these turbos will make 700 to the wheel that efficiently. Correct me if i'm wrong. From what everyone is talking, the 35R would be the way to go for a street car.

We've made 750 WHP on a supra with a 67-GTQ, and I think it still had a bit more to give. 730 WHP has been made on a T3/T67 HO, so I'd think that's very attainable with a full T4 frame T67 with a better exhaust wheel.

the gt35r is good to 620 crank hp (per garrett) and will spool a whole hell of a lot quicker than the t4/t67.
if spool is what you are looking for, go with the 35r, if ultimate power is the goal, t4t67

Thanks for the replies. Spool is not my main concern but I just wanted a general idea as to when each will start building boost. What size throttle body should I use with this setup (my intercooler piping is 2.5 in). Thanks for your help.

if spool is your main concern, the gtq is not the wheel you probably should be looking at... it will provide you with a very low backpressure and low shaft speed, if thats what you're after

Just to give you a comparison on a 2.0L B series with a P-Trim wheel PT67 with a .68A/R I made 632Whp at 27Psi, it may have been more but the car would not hook on the dyno after 6500Rpm.

i am using a 74mm tb on my build and i had my jg intake manifold ported to match my throttle body. i would use at least a 70mm if your goal is 700whp.

I am shooting for 700+ but I have a Skunk2 IM. I didn't measure the opening of the IM but I thought if you have a much bigger throttle body than the opening, you will actually lose power? Unless I port match the opening of the IM with the throttle body (which I don't plan on doing).

i would think it would be easier to reach that power goal with a 'bigger' intake manifold, like jg or full race or custom. just my opinion.

From what i've seen, the gt35r t4 version, most people are running the .68 turbine housing and it is maxing out at around 650whp at over 30+ psi.

even though you increase the turbine side (lower backpressure) you get to a point where you can only lower it so much, until it doesnt make power.
In the case of the t4 GT35R, the compressore wheel is maxxed out around 650whp, and that the compressor wheel can make. Lower hte backpressure all you want, the compressor wheel can not push any more air.
