Default T3 turbo too big for d15b vtec?

Is this too big? Should I be looking at the t25's or t28's?

A t3 on my d16 is a semi-laggy strong turbo.

It acts like a t3/t4 does on a b-series.

Spool (10psi) @ ~4000, pull hard to redline, no power dropoff. Go with it! It's my favorite d series turbo. Run .48 exhaust housing.

What about a:
Make: Garrett (AlliedSignal)
Use: 1984-1987 Turbo I
Downpipe Size: 2 1/4"
Intake Scroll: 0.42 A/R
Exhaust Scroll: 0.48 A/R
Compressor Inducer: 40mm (40-Trim)
Compressor Exducer: 60mm

Would this be too big...I mean will there be a lot of low end lag till it spins up? If so, what kind of specs should I be looking for?

Any guesstimate when I might "feel" boost with a turbo like this?

The d15b vtec doesn't have a lot on the bottom enad and I just don't want to end up with a turbo that exacerbates that situation. That is why I'm a bit shy of a t3 or larger....thoughts?

The t3 you just posted is a very good match to your motor, but like I said before, the t3 does NOT spool like a greddy turbo. If you are looking for a good turbo for LOW end, to make up for where the car lacks, then you will compromise top end. The greddy turbo is an excellent turbo for that. An old eclipse t25 would also do nicely. The t3 will be more of a TOP end turbo on your motor.

Get the volvo turbo i think it is. .42/.48, (maybe it's the other way around) But that will provide you with the best powerband (midrange and top) It'll be mainly for the midrange though. If you want a good top end powerband, go with the 60 and stop being a wuss JK. But you wont see the power fall off with many of the other turbos.

...will it slow me down at low RPM's or will it give at least some increase in power i.e. will adding the turbo help the low end AT ALL? ....please excuse my ignorance...I've never driven a boosted car before.

My personal experience with a T3 super 60 with .48 trim exhaust were very good on my D16. It provided great low to midend and but began to strugle for the same kind of power in high rpms as you got in the lower to mid rpm ranges. Very torque very quick, it still pulled solid up top, but the power and accelleration more or less platued. I switched to a T04E with a .60 a/r and a .63 exhaust running stage 3 wheels now and wouldn't go back. The T3 is an excellent turbo for your motor at 1.5 ltrs, very efficient flow and a good compromise between peak boost, spool and maximum flow.
