T3/60-1 ball bearing on a built motor(dyno inside)
84mm GE GSR block
B16A head with skunk valvetrain and mild port work
ITR IM
RLD mani
Hybridynamics IC piping
Precision 600hp IC
tuned on hondata
turbo is a T3/60-1 Ball bearing with S comp cover and .63 ar stage III exhuast side
thanks to all the guys at hybridynamics. denis for the tune, Jay for the motor assembly and eric for all the work to get it back in the car so I could race at a local event last friday.

I believe so. it is kind of jumpy because the boost controller sucks. I need a new boost controller, a 44mm gate, and .82 hotside and go for 600whp. ohh and this was on a totally beat on ACT 2600 6 puck

thanks guys I am really happy with the power and it did 450whp on pump so driving it is really fun even without the race gas

I'm sorry, I don't consider this "countering" anything. Several pulls on a dyno with that amount of heat does not a reliable turbo make.
I'm not trying to sound dishearting to the original poster.. I mean, congratulations, and good luck to you with such horsepower, but this is not at all a condoning of beating a turbo to its maximum, just to say that it can.

i havent ever seen anyone on here use them before and was wondering if you wouldnt mind if i pm'd you a few questions so i dont clog ur thread. I am looking to turbo a SOHC with built bottom and top end and was wondering about piping and tuning and stuff locally. I am from Berlin (somerset county), where you located? i see SW PA, but where exactly. Looking for a friend that isnt a ricer and i can ask shop questions

19psi was the 450 pull on pump.
as for this turbo being reliable it is. it is a ball bearing turbo not a journal bearing so it will take that back presure like a champ and the torque isnt falling off much so I think there is still more in the turbo.
it made 25psi about 6000rpm

19psi was the 450 pull on pump.
as for this turbo being reliable it is. it is a ball bearing turbo not a journal bearing so it will take that back presure like a champ and the torque isnt falling off much so I think there is still more in the turbo.

How can you say anything bad about the 60-1 turbo it is a great turbo at a very reasonable price
sure the gt series turbos are newer technology and superior but to knock on a turbo that has been the heart of many many very fast cars especially a ball bearing version that is just stupid, and unreliable.... yea right garret put there name on that is enough said right there besides 25psi on a ball bearing turbo she will run strong for plenty of miles. Now think about it a minute and say something smart like...... Nice numbers man very impresive you should try the .82a/r stage 5 exhaust setup then you could probably break the 600whp mark.

Thanks. I am goin to try the .82 housing and a bigger gate and see if it will hit 600whp. probably just goin to do a clutch for right now and have a reliable set up with 550+whp
also that tune was without touching the cam gears at all

I have a tial 38mm with 1 bar spring. with the clutch pretty much shot it went 11.01@130mph on slicks.

My bad I overlooked the times at the bottom Real nice times not bad at all
I am not sure you will really see any gains though from the larger gate it will only really help at a lower boost level I believe I would into that exhaust side for some real gains

I said nothing about using a GT turbo as an alternative, nor did I make any mention of GT series at all. A ball-bearing cartridge in and of itself does not a GT make. Please, if you could, re-read my original post. my concern was mainly for the turbine wheel's shaft speed, and its longevity particularly set that compressor wheel at that power level. As one that's seen them used on the original GT Bentley where it came from back in 1992, I see nothing wrong with my specific area of concern. I didn't say it wasn't impressive.. I simply stated a concern over time.

Anyways, looks like a good setup. 3K rpm of big power is more than enough, and it should still be crazy if the .82 exhaust slows spoolup a bit. You should just skip to a big divided turbine housing instead
You obviously have never looked at a compressor map before. That shaft is moving over 110,000 rpm at that power level, and heavily loaded too. Garrett makes a quality product, but they haven't 'pwned' the laws of physics - their stuff still breaks when run beyond what it was designed for. I'm willing to bet the original wheel was designed to be used with a big shaft t04 chra/turbine, not a t3 toothpick.
