Default T3

Hi guys, im from asia, Singapore and i got a new setup on my d16zc.

Heres a list of a few things.

1. TURBOCHARGER T3 Turbo with 2.5" downpipe all the way 45 deg to tailpipe
2. Octopus manifold.
3. 560cc Evo injectors
4. OEM FPR
5. d16z6 intake manifold with b16 throttle body
6. Stock head
7. Not very sure bout my lower block as i bought it from someone else. May be stock.
8. Microtech LT8 ECU
9. HKS SSQV BOV
10. Replica Tial 38mm external wastegate

I've yet to tune yet and im boosting 0.8bar for now till my tuner's free to tune. I would like to ask, how much whp can a T3 turbo produce and what is the highest boost a T3 can go up to?

I cant seem to find the a/r on the turbo. So im guessing its the standard T3 turbo. Probably .42 a/r What is trim? Sorry in singapore they dont go by trim.

A/R – a formula used to determine the size of the compressor and housing configuration. It stands for Area divided by Radius, where the area is the cross-sectional area of the scroll(turbine wheel) and the radius is the shortest distance from the centerline of A to the centerline of the shaft. A turbo with a smaller A/R will spool faster but produce less power than a turbo with a larger A/R which will spool slower but produce a higher peak power.

Trim – measure of the size of the compressor and/or turbine wheels.
Turbine – finned wheel on the exhaust side of the turbocharger. The turbine is driven by the flow of exhaust gas coming out of the engine and is connected to the compressor side of the turbo by a shaft, which in turn spins the compressor wheel.

Im really not sure as i dont see any A/R on the turbo and i have no idea on the trim. What is the most standard T3? The brand of the turbo is TURBOCHARGER, bought it off some dude who sold me cheap. Very little shaft play though, spools in around 3.2K +

A "standard t3" can be something like a .42 a/r compressor housing (cold side), and a .48 a/r turbine housing (hot side) A turbo like that on a d16 of your build, will prolly struggle to hit 250-300.

and the trims can be anywhere from a t3, 40 trim, 45, 50, 60, super 60, etc...im guessing yours is a 40-50 trim, but need pics and such to be certain.

you mentioned it spools in at 3200 rpm...is that when boost is starting or are you full spool?

Boost starts to build up around 3200rpm, full boost around 3800 or 4000 rpm. In Singapore nobody uses these turbos here so im one of the first to actually build a setup similar to the ones in the USA using T turbos. Im guessing its a standard T3 .42 cold side and .48 hot side. I may be planning to ship in a T3/T4 in a few months. But i would like to know what kind of power would a standard T3 build on a d16zc and how much boost can the turbo take. Need more advise from you guys at HT! Thanks!

yours questions are very vague. A t3 can make anywhere from 200-850hp on the right setup. I would guess ur bottom end is stock since your not sure. DONT EVER BUY ANYTHING UNLESS YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE GETTING. If turbocharger is the name brand....its probably an ebay POS. But to answer the question of what size it is...take the cover off the intake side of the turbocharger (it should be help on by 8 bolts or so). Once completed that a caliber mic and measure the size of the intake wheel. Then post back and we can help answer your question on power. id assume you wont see more than 200hp but with a lil research and $3k you could have a 400hp 10 sec beast!

Sigh... I so much want to say that i don't know this dude, but i cant.

Here's what he meant in US terms.

1. TURBOCHARGER T3 Turbo with 2.5" downpipe all the way 45 deg to tailpipe
- It should be the smallest T3 turbo. .42/.48 CHINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! someone talk him out of it.. He even plans to get another CHINAAAAAAAAAAAAAA turbo...

2. Octopus manifold.
- looks something like a quick4 or miniram. Looks like mroe of those found in ebaieee

3. 560cc Evo injectors
- High impedence. From stock EVO 7-9

4. OEM FPR

5. d16z6 intake manifold with b16 throttle body

6. Stock head

7. Not very sure bout my lower block as i bought it from someone else. May be stock.
- he did mention it will alittle build. As he was boosting more than 17PSI

8. Microtech LT8 ECU

9. HKS SSQV BOV

10. Replica Tial 38mm external wastegate

He needs something fart spool and also reliable. I don't think he wan a dyno queen. anything 300whp and below would be satisfying for him. He was on a stock wrx turbo before.
