Default t25 s13

I have a d-series and I was told that a t25 is a good idea. I was looking for one one ebay there a little hard 2 find in good condition. Anyways my question is whats the waste gate of the system do? Because t25's from s13's have internal wastegate's right? I understand how everything else in a turbo sytem works but not the wastegate......

Can't wait 2 have my setup ready!!!

here you need to figure out how a turbo setup works and its componets before you do anything
here are a few basic ones

Well to answer t25-specific items that normally wouldn't be in a FAQ, here goes.

The t25 from an s13 is set to around 8psi IIRC. That would mean you can't run any less than 8psi. If you did, you'd have to get a different lower-psi or adjustable wastegate actuator. The t25 from a s13 has the flapper and valve cast into the turbine housing. T3's just have a hole, and there's a seperate flapper assembly (think a cast iron cap) that installs to give it a wastegate. You could also run an aftermarket wastegate off of that hole or get a manifold with a flange in it.

Yes, the t25 is a good street turbo for a d-series. Its small enough to give you very fast spool up and instant response, it just won't give you crazy upper-rpm HP numbers. They go for ~$150 on ebay for low-milage turbos - rarely will a JDM s13 see over 60k miles, and ususually they're upgraded well before then. Honestly, you'll be better off with a DSM 14b. Its a tad bigger, has an internal wastegate, and can be found everywhere for cheap. You'll need to use the HF/STD manifold+adapter though.

For the boost controller, you can adjust it whenever, you just need to have the ecu fuel map adjusted so it can handle that amount of boost.

Seriously, read all the faq's here, use the SEARCH link in the upper-right hand part of the page (and don't forget to search in the 'archived' posts first), THEN ask questions you can't find.
