How to tell the differ between a TIAL 35mm and a 38MM Wastegate??? SEARCHED
I just got done searching and couldn't find out. I bought a used Tial wastegate and when I installed it I realized I needed a ring seal. Well I got one from a fellow H-T member and it was to big. The part that sits against the diaphram to seal it up is what is to big. Is there anyway to tell what size of wastegate I have? I don't want to order a new one from RRE.com and then it's the wrong one also. I was thinking I had teh 35mm since the one I got from here was to big. I asked him why it didn't fit and he was cool about it and said he had both a 35mm and a 38mm so it must've been for a different one. He offered my $ back but it didn't really cost anything. Let me know and thanks
I went to RRE.com and looked at the measurements and it was the same size as a 38mm. But in a search the 35mm and the 38mm are the same size on the outside

so just take the wastgate off and then measure the bottom (width) valve? or length?

That's correct. Measure the diameter (width).

easier way to tell. measure the outlet on the wg.. also, the 38mm's and a different top on them, gets wider towards the bottom, it has round edges, and the bottom valve body is more rounded instead of the old 35mm's boxy design
you can also email tial with the serial number on top of the wg... they can tell you everything that way

Alright I don't know why my last post was posted twice LOL.
It is 1 3/8" that is the width of the bottom valve.
