Default t25 or 16g

I plan to boost my d16z6 by piecing together cheap but reliable setup(under 2500 including tuning). I've been looking into all of the turbos that the eclipse had because I've seen/heard of much success with all of them. My question is which one should I get... I plan on making around 180-225whp, and I know those turbos are good for that amount. I will be using a stock block but the head will have a cam(probally the zex 59300) and full valve train as well as skunk 2 IM, and a 2.5" custom mandrel bent exhaust. thanks in advance

You'll be fine with a T25 or 14B.

I used a straight T3 turbo on mine WAY back and was fine and spooled up great. .48 and .60 A/R T 25 are very small and might have to boost well over 10 psi to get aroung 225 whp

I heard the 14b was smaller then the t25. Is that right or was I misinformed?

Also for the currently stock internalled d16z6 I plan on making around the 180whp mark, but then later this year when I build up the motor a little bit I'll be shooting for 225whp.

I just want a turbo that can make both of my goals happen...so I won't need to go buy another one.

Like I said the motor will have plenty of supporting mods to help it get to the goal of 225whp, there's no way I'd hope for a completely stock d16z6 to make 225whp off of a small turbo like the ones I'm thinking about using.

One last ? would I be better of using a slightly bigger turbo(something in the T3 family) than using any of the turbos mentioned so far? LikeI said I'm not looking to be fast...I just want something fairly cheap with good gains.

The 1g eclipse's 14b is larger than the 2g t25. I think the 14b spools up fine on a d16 and you should be able to make the power you're looking for with the stock wastegate pressure (~8-10psi). When you decide to build the bottom end, I believe the 14b can support around ~280hp if I'm not mistaken. Good luck

WOW, 280 that'd be badass on a sohc sol. but like I said because I don' plan on sleeving the block I think 225 is the most I should shoot for (safely). What about the 16g(I believe it's off a stock evo) is that a good turbo or is the 14b fine for the sohc motors.

They are going to be similar I'd have to say whatever you can find the best deal on. Of course newer turbos are more likely to have less miles on them..

yeah I was thinking about spending about 150-200 more and getting a freshly rebuilt t3 from west coast turbo, but I'd prefer to go as chep and reliable as possible. If I were to get a t3 what sizes should I be looking for? and is the super 60 any better as far as spool time compared to a normal t3?
