Default Need advice on swap!! Come look

I want to swap something in my eg hatch this spring I just can't decide on what. My original plan was to boost my d16z6 and run that till it blew up. I've been looking at b16's, there cheap and they drop right in, maybe boost it in the summer and next winter build a b18b block for it and run ls vtec next season. Another option is buy a b18 block now and pick up a b16 head and tranny and get a ls vtec this year, but my budget between now and spring is limited and I don't want to half *** an lsvtec I don't want **** going wrong. My budget for engine between now and spring is around 2-3 grand give or take. My buddy has a shop and he said hed get me a b16 with a type r bottom end normal b16 head and lsd tranny installed for 2800-3000(canadian eh). So what I'm asking for is all of your expertism advice.
So here's my options:
- Boost my d16z6
- Buy a b16 run it n/a for this summer maybe boost it before years over and build a ls block for next season
- Piece together a Ls-Vtec now

I'm open to any other ideas and advice.( But I can't afford a h22 or k20)
Leave you .02, thanks in advance. - Ronnie

I think an ls vtec is a waste of time. Me personally I love the ls motors. I think you should should buy an ls, and run an ls with a gsr tranny. You put that set up in an eg hatch, thats a quick car. I have a 94 ex coupe with that set up and I'm running like a 15.4-15.5 in the quarter mile. Thats only gonna cost you like $2200. Then take the rest of your money and put some aftermarket parts on that motor. Thats gonna beat alot of cars.

Why on Earth would you PLAN to blow up a boosted D? A stock z6 with the right turbo choice for your budget/goals would be pretty reliable and fun with some ARP's and a solid reliable tune.
