Suggestions wanted on how to improve setup
Ok everyone. Here is my situation. I have been running fine with my current set-up but over the past few months I have been reading the posts here and on other sites and now I've decided to make my set up better than what it is now. I know I have lots of room for improvement so I'm looking for suggestions and opinions on how to make my set-up better while still maintaining my daily drivability.
The set-up:
1. GSR with stock internals including stock intake manifold
2. Rev Hard stage 2 turbo kit @ 7psi (with the delta"spike" wastegate)
3. Currently running a 2.5" down pipe with a 2.5" test pipe into a 2.25" (yes I know...I know) exhaust
4. Turbo XS boost controller
5. ACT street/strip clutch with HD pressure plate
6. Skunk2 cam gears
7. VAFC with FMU (until Hondata time)
Ok that’s about it I think. Let me know where I should go next.

You really need to let us know how much money you have to play with. Have you had it dyno tuned yet?

Re: Suggestions wanted on how to improve setup (GudeH23a)
I can get the money needed for this project over the winter or just buy things peice by peice. I have some cash so that is not really a huge issue. Besides, if something costs more but is well worth it in the end then I will get it done.
I am probably going to re-dyno (long story about the first dyno) on my current set-up within a couple of weeks.

1. get a tial wastegate
2. get a hondata
3. get a 3 inch exhaust
4. get on the dyno and tune that ******

Hey, zojirushi
What kind of turbo u have and what kind of setup are u running?? I'm curious about the type of HP and times an auto will produce.

hondata with bigger injectors and some tuning will greatly improve your set-up. i picked up 90 whp after a hondata, 440 cc injectors, and some tuning

Here is my oppinion on what you should do...
1. Tial 35mm wastgate
2. Inline Pro Headgasket
3. 440cc injectors
4. Arp or Stock Headstuds/Bolts
5. 3" Turboback exhaust
6. Turn Up the boost
7. Tune it in
Works great!!

Re: Suggestions wanted on how to improve setup (BoostedH23a1)
Hunt down a wideband O2 setup and a datalogger that can at least record O2 and RPM. Consider adding a way to log EGT and injector pulse width as well. That way you can tune whereever and get gained piece of mind knowing you are running properly. In car widebands are where it's at - your car will perform differently under load at the track than it does on the dyno.
A way to monitor your knock sensor (if applicable) would also be an addition.

Re: Suggestions wanted on how to improve setup (ski_rebel_3)
hey ski.
the 3 main things I would improve if I had ur set up was.
1.tial wastegate
2.larger exhaust (2.5-3" whatever u like)
3.skunk 2 or JG intake mani(u read my opinion post between the two over at T-I?)
and after that I would look into selling the FMU and Vafc and going the hondata route, up the boost to 10psi and u will be one very happy camper. only problem with hondata right now is lack of quality tuners here in DFW. hopefully i get my wideband soon and i can start to practice.

Re: Suggestions wanted on how to improve setup (DIRep972)
Hey DIRep972 thanks for the reply.
I have a tial on the way now thanks to Viren's group buy so thats taken care of now.
I have been looking around at larger exhausts and yeah I saw your reply at T-I (thanks by the way) but I still can't decide between the Sk2 or JG manifold for my set up. I have had several people tell me different things about both of them.
I am hoping to ditch the fmu and vafc for a hondata in Jan-Feb. so hurry and get some practice! I think for now I am just going to have the Tial put on...hit the dyno..and then try and do the intake manifold, exhaust, and hondata all together then hit the dyno again.
