Default stuttering engine

93 b18a... stutters at idle, and also while on the gas... something like the jeep in indiana jones the ride... where it feels like and sounds like the engine is going to die, but it gets kicked up and going again. when gas is applied, especially at low rpms, the engine stutters.... kinda like "putt putt puttputtputttputtt"...

any ideas?!?!?

sticky FMU. I had mine do that causing high fuel pressures at idle or crusing. it died on me a lot until i figured it out.

Definitely sounds electrical, plugs could be fouled..Check rotor and cap too. Good luck.

still stutters... after checking plugs, cap, and rotor and also new fuel filter. suspecting the fuel pump.... before, i used to get a cliclk click click click, etc. when turning ignition to ON, and also while driving when the car was still cold. the clicking could be felt as if it were underneath the car. what should i do? install a new stock fuel pump? or what aftermarket intank pump should i use? plan on installing a bosch inline as well.... HELP!! thanks

tach bounces back and forth at idle... below 800 and then below 500 and then just as its about to die, it get kicked up to 1k.... vacuum seems normal at about -20

replaced ignitor about 2,000 miles ago, and symptoms are different from when the ignitor went bad. as far as bad gas, tank was depleted then refueled but still no different. I'm leaning towards the fuel pump. I'll probably take it in to a shop today...

Hey i have had the same problem for months. It always comes back and i replace something else to fix it. ive replaced distributer, plugs, wires, map sensor, tried running without my inline fuel pump. Any way if you figure it out let me know. Ive also heard that replacing o2 sensor might help.

If it was the map sensor, wouldnt it throw an ecu code? hope you can get it figured out

yah i think the MAP sensor would throw a code, but none are being thrown. Also suspected the O2 sensor since it only really starts to bog after the car is warmed up. My GF is actually taking the car in to get fixed since I'm not there right now, so when I hear something I'll let post what the problem was.

i'm having the same problem, but not at idle, only at a warm engine when i start driving, low rpm high gear pulls at 0 vac, Mainly when a light turns green and i start going i have to keep it out of 0-boost until my rpms rise, then when i punch the throttle its fine.... I got a new fmu, but i really think its one of two things.. IAT, TPS, or the biggy fuel pump. But i have a supercharger, but it sounds to me your having the same problem as me,,,

Damn it pisses me off,,, let me know if you figure out the problem, this weekend, i'll be putting in the JR Map conv. and resolding all wires on my ecu that have been messed with as far as vafc, and btc goes, along with my TPS sensor connections that i had to solder together to get the tps trick undone,, this weekend, i'll be getting rid of the Fuel enrichment relay, and tps trick... Then if that don't help,, I'll have to swap out fuel pumps, and see if that helps any... anyone know of a good fuel pump for a JRSC ITR , soon to be turbocharged..
