Default Stroked or Overbore?

I want to turn my B16 into a 1.8 liter.

I know that increasing the bore to 84.5 gives me about 1.75liters or I can increase thru a stroker kit. I would rather just buy golden eagle godzilla sleeves because it's cheaper than a stroker kit..however I hear that I don't gain anything from the bore size. I hear that the only gains are from increasing the stroke. My question is how true is this? I want to know if it makes a difference on how I increase displacement or is it as long as displacement increases, I'll see the same gains?

Bore Bore Bore!!!!! Now I'll tell you why. Don't screw up the great rod/stroke ratio the B16 already has. Not to mention the increased bore size will help deshroud the valves thus improving the breathing characteristics. Make sure you open up the combustion chamber on the head to match the increased bore size.

BTW, last time we talked you said you were going Darton, even though I suggested GEM sleeves, glad you've seen the light. Also, when are you planning on shipping your block out? I've got one, perhaps two, that need to go as well so maybe we can save ourselves same money on shipping costs.

Actually it won't be till I get my car up and running..I'll probably send them in about 4 weeks...Car should be running in 2. But I want to have the extra block incase the one in the car fails for whatever reason. I really want to get a B18C and do the 84.5 sleeves so I can have the almost 2.0 liters I REALLY want, but I think I will be happy the b16.

However the answer I am looking for has yet to be answered...Are the gains be the same whether I increase bore or stroke? Is one way of increasing displacement better than the other?

Once again, increasing bore is better. Increasing stroke will lead to higher pistons speeds, more sidewall loading, and if you don't deck the block, and use longer rods, your engine breathing will suffer from less dwell time at TDC and BDC.
