All D16's are 75mm bore x 90mm stroke.

Combustion happens on the power stroke.

Did you mean compression ratio?

the compression "ratio" is established by the relationship of the cylinder head with the block, in specific, pistons, stroke and the thikness of the head gasket.
unfotunately, i don't know the CC of the chambers.

D16A1, D16A6: .048"
D16Z6, D16Y8: .037"

D16A1: USDM 86-89 Integra (the only USDM twincam D series engine)
D16A6: USDM 88-91 CRX/Civic Si
D16Z6: USDM 92-95 Civic Ex/Si
D16Y8: USDM 96-00 Civic Ex

I'm not sure about the D16Y7.

I have a d16y7 and I'm getting ready to put on a y8 head, will this change the compression ratio to the ex, or will it stay the same as the cx?

I wouldn't be too worried about that.

But all you need is the ECU, harness, head, and gaskets....you can ghetto rig a RPM switch but unless you have some sort of AFC to make up for the lack of fuel when VTEC engaugs then you should get the ECU and harness....you should also considor the EX tranny as well.

ghetto rig or just spend a few bucks and get an MSD RPM activated window switch, less of a pain that swaping out the harness, i would think.

do you need a new cam gear when you switch the head? or just the cam, rocker arms, valves, valvesprings

..and i know hondas don't have much torque to begin with, but the d16y7 puts its max out at 4600rpm while the y8 only has 4 more lbft and it's way up at 5500rpm. i guess the increase in the top end would more than make up it, tho.
