Stock thickness HG OK for zero deck?
I have arias pistons, manley rods in a sleeved GSR block installed at zero deck. I've been running a Cometic MLS .040" gasket. That let go on me today at lunch. I have a parts store down the street that has stock honda gaskets in stock. Will I have enough P/H clearance with the gasket? I'm running 1mm oversize valve and ITR cams. I'm hoping to change the gasket out after I get off work so I don't have to get a tow or drive an hour on a blown gasket.
I'd be more concerned about why the gasket blew to begin with than driving on a blown gasket. Replacing won't do much good if your head is warped.
The only way to be safe and know for sure is to put a piece of plumbers putty or modeling clay on the top of the piston. Put your head on and and turn the crank manually through 720 degrees. Remove the head and look to see the indentations left by the putty.
Minimum 0.045" to 0.050" intake side
Minimum 0.055" to 0.060 exhaust side.

If you had a 0.040" gasket you may be able to check the clearance prior to
buying a new gasket. I'd try it without a gasket at all. If the valves touch the piston without a gasket in there, you will have to find a thicker than stock gasket.
If they have a gap of 0.015 or better after testing without a gasket, you should be OK with a stock gasket. Just add the gasket thickness to your measurements for a final clearance.

if u do that id be careful about hitting vtec LOL wheres ur p-v clearence on the vtec lobe?!

Good point about the Vtec Lobes Johnzm, but that too can be figured in.
Vtec lobe lift minus intake lobe lift plus p-v minumum clearance= total clearance.
Not something I would try in a parking lot though.

I don't really care about VTEC lobes or compression, all I want to do is get my car home so I don't have to pay some outrageous money to get a tow home. HG blew because a vacuum line blew off and it overboosted quickly. I was hoping not to have to clay it, but better safe than sorry, right? I think it'll be fine though, I have the dished pistons which gives me a bit better clearance.

Man...just buy 2 headgaskets from the part store...
Take the Metal Shim out of the one...add it to the other, and install.
