Default Stock Ignition Enough?

Hey guys, I'm nearing completion on my project, and I'm trying to work out any of the little things that I may have forgotten about, and I was wondering if my stock ignition will be enough?

its an ls/tec that will be running on a S300, 780cc injectors, and between 15-20 psi, with a power goal of somewhere around 400+. All depends on what my tuner can come up with.

So my question is, will my stock ignition hold up? or should I upgrade to something like this

http://www.msdignition.com/ignition_4_6200.htm

along with the coil & dizzy.

And before I get flamed with the usual use the search comments, I did.. but all the came up was people selling stuff.

Thanks again

at those power levels stock should be fine, however if you upgrade to an M&W pro 10 you get to eliminate the ignitor in the distributor which eliminates a lot of possible problems down the road.

We have tuned several cars that make 400-500 whp on oem honda distributors with oem plug wires without issues. The key to not having ignition problems is making sure that your distributor assembly is maintained (cap/rotor/coil/icm etc).

The m&w units appear to work well if you want to upgrade the factory system

my statement retracted! MSD sucks!1!!
my msd distributor failed the day before dyno tune while street tuning
the following day I made 440whp on 14 psi running rich with OEM IGNITION.
now my setup is changed and my goal is changed to 700+whp on OEM IGNITION.
I am a little worried it will not be enough but I will give it a try, if it don't work I will try AEM setup with a Crane coil

I ran the 6al on my boosted eg when i had it and it was like night and day. I could tell it was running hotter just b/c my rear bumper started to melt after the install, lol. then i had to put a dump pipe on my exhaust to fix it. Msd ftw.

Ive never had good luck with MSD. On higher boost on every MSD setup ive used, i get spark blow out and ignition issues.

Ive had great success from just running a stock Distributor.up to 600hp

The unit Joe and Tony just linked you to is a top notch setup. Id spend the extra cash and go with that route if the OEM unit doesn't work for you.

I've never used any of their stuff, but i've heard enough bad stories to keep me from using them. I'd stick with stock ignition and whenever you have the money or make enough power to justify it, go with the ignition Tony has...
