stock gsr bottom should i do head work?
i just purchased a 94 jdm gsr swap and i wanted to know if it would be a good idea to get head work and a block guard in order to get the most power with out having to build the bottom end? and if so what kind of parts should i use for the head? as far as my plans go i plan to keep this car as a daily driver so i would like to use a side mount manifold (so i can keep my AC) and i will more than likely use a sc61 turbo (unless there is another set up that would get me more power gains), thanks all the help that i can get is much appreciated.

I wouldn't stress the head to much nor would I attempt to put in a block guard without touching the bottom end. If you were to do anything at all, I would suggest a set of ITR cams and that's about it. Otherwise, just drive it like it is. A good conservative tune by someone who knows what they are doing will be a lot better insurance than any block guard on the market.

Ummm, some ok, headwork is gonna cost you at least $500. Some good **** will cost you $1k-$1400 (or more). Pistons ~$400, rods $300. Install of pistons and rods, bore, hone.....~$300-$500 (just a guesstimate).
Max hp (safely anyway)
Built head, stock block: 300whp
Stock head, semi-built block: 400whp
So semi-built block total: $1k-$1200
Built head total: $500-$1500
Now which option suits you better??? You decide........GL.
