Hey guys,

I want to start a thread about stock B series engines and how long they have lasted when turbo'd/supercharged.

Please put down the spec's of your build,how much power it made, how long its lasted, how many miles its done, what sort of driving its seen,how often its abused, what failed (e.g. ring landings, rod failure, ect...)

If you would like to add anymore info then please do. Also if your engine is still going strong feel free to add you experience to this thread.

Ha well I bought my eg hatch boosted and I had it for about 6 months but my tune took a dump it was tuned on Neptune and the afr was all over the place and I never got it retuned and threw a rod completely thru front and back of the block. It was completely stock with a rev hard log mani. Pro series skunk 2 intake mani bullfrog trottle body Dsm 450 injectors garrett to4e 57 trim turbine walbro 255 fuel pump 3in exhaust no cat and rota subzero wheels wrapped in falken rt615s 12.20s on those tires very fun for a first turbo Honda I fell in love lol. But new set up will be around 400whp. Garrett 35r on 15 psi ramhorn mani edlebrock victor x intake mani wiseco pistions eagle h beam rods tuned on hondata s300 can't wait

dd lasted about 4months before i built it..
I feel 260whp or less will give the motor a good life, running completely stock with apr head studs

depends how you drive it. take a engine and run 11psi and driving like you got a brain will last longer then the same motor at 8psi and you drove it like a idiot

just wanted to ask, is 300-350 to much for a daily driven stock B-series turbo motor?

350whp is no problem if the tune is good and everything are playing in harmony.
the build is not any stronger than the weakest link, if you do a simple search you can se 400 and even 600whp stock b-serie engines on the forum. It has been done before.

my b16 with arp studs with type r head/cams/im made 550s before it let a ringland go randomly.. lasted 20+- passes

ck my sig. have had 3 diffrent turbo kits on it. gt35r made 402whp. then then had a spr t4 i think? it made like 440 i think then drove it n/a for a couple months and now i got a gt4088. stock bottom end ls-vtec. rod bolts, golden eagle head studs, i did the port&polish, with crowler springs&retainers, my own custom top mount, all custom charge pipes, exhaust, gsr cams, 93oct, precision 750 intercooler, rc1000's, jg intake, walboro 255, tuned by top speed performance, now making 502whp. i put the motor together 3 1/2 years ago. been boosted for at least 2 1/2. and i drive the pure **** out of this car. i dd it and go to the track as much as i can. 16psi around town and 19psi at the track.

I agree, but alot of the time, everything doesn't playing in harmony.

do all upkeep to the motor before boosting it.

stock b16a2, sls ram turbo kit, t3/t4 57 trim .63 a/r.......16psi daily for the past 2 years tuned by matt shue...made 325hp at 11 psi its been at 16 psi and boost by gear (arround 375 at the wheels) for about 2 years

I have a 92 civic si hatch. stock ls-vtec only arp head bolts. full-race stage 2 turbo kit. 750cc rc injectors, 255 fuel pump, put 1200km on it daily driver. I only drive 7km to work though. first time to the track on street tires ran 13.6 at 101mph on 9 psi.then over the next few months increased to 14 psi and ran 11.7 at 117 mph with the help of c16. car has never been on a dyno. all street and track tuning. the next year got bigger injectors and started running 20 psi and ran a 11.59 at 121.8 mph on 94 octane pump gas. 22 inch slick. open diff and b16 trans. going through all 5 gears sucks.then I put meth injection on it and just last weekend got out to the track and did some tuning and made a few passes. 1/8 mile pass of 7.4sec at 103 mph with a 1.8 60'. no cage so I backed off to check my time card. looked good so I made one final pass, full pass and miss shifted bad and did not get a full pass in. oh well. on the way home on the freeway. I did a pull and the motor blew. so thats my stock ls vtec story. all together about 60 passes in two years at mission raceway.

bone stock gsr swap never open bought with 250k miles out of crashed db8...drove hard 1 year n/a with itr cams header and exhaust....then boosted 11psi on 60-1 93 octane streetune safe about 280whp....lasted 6 months and sleeve cracked...never smoke or hesitated..

Boostedls92, I haven't started this thread to gather info for myself. It was just out of intrest really, you always hear about how much someone has pushed out of there stock engine but never really hear how long they actually lasted.

I also thought it would be great info for people new to the game and that it woud help them make wise choice about whether or not to go FI .

i was pushing 240whp for 6 months and probly went for a whole year,but the monkey that put my gbox in drove the **** out of it before it was warm and blew the sleeves thru the valves and turbo,how fun,and it was gna go for its 14psi tune before the end of the year

stock ls making 240/205 a good 5 years back. boosted it with like 200k miles took it out with around 220k, still ran fine compression was down to like 168 from the 180 it started at. that motor survived a stuck shut thermostat, a broken wideband running afr in the high 13's for god knows how long and all kinds of other crap. oh yeah was chip tuned on uberdata

Stock sleeves are good up until around 16 lbs. of boost. Although a miss shift can spoil all your fun. Your motor lasted longer than most would have. Interesting information

I can't speak for other motors, but stock "healthy" b16's handle boost really well for a while from what i've seen. i'm currently running a stock block b16, "ctr pistons" (I know... I know...) arp head studs, inline pro blockguard, itr cams, s2 valve springs/retainers, crower valves, minor port work on intake ports. stock IM and TB, 60 trim .63 hotside, custom ramhorn manifold, 38mm wg, greddy type s blah blah blah! shooting for 400whp on who knows how much boost, but shouldn't need much with a CR of 11:1! i will be using E85 as well!!! should have numbers within the next 3 weeks hopefully!

Since when did boost pressure have anything to do with it?

Stock LS boosted at 110,000 miles to about 140,000 miles.
Daily driven for 2 years with probably over a 100 trips down the 1/4.
Dynoed 283/300 at 22 psi falling to 17 on a GT25. Tuned by myself on ectune
Compression was 190-180-180-190 a few months ago.
Best run was a 12.88 @ 111. Best trap was a 113.
Just took the turbo off to go back to stock because I bought a built car.

wow, only 16 lbs. I guess if your running 16lbs on a t25, is just as much stress on your sleeves as a gt42...

i ran a bone stock gsr last year on 24psi had 56 passes on it, and never had an issue 502/346

ran my built bottom end this summer on whats in my signature and it lasted 15 hit, and stretched a rod bolt.

i blew a hole in my #3 sleeve the size of my thumb once. it was a piston and rod lsvtec only had like 2000 miles on it. stock map sensor and no boost cut (my rookie tuning days) had a boost spike one night at the top of 4th gear rolling out on my friends audis4. i spit coolant all over his winshield. thankfully those audis arent far in engineering from 3rd reich tanks and he drove me home lol

I am making 488whp on e85, stock internals, head studs, sc61, 16psi, and 125000 miles. I beat on it almost every day. Its been on that power level since march this year, i plan on sleeving it next year with turbo tuff rods still doing research on what pistons to run though.
