here is a pic of the axle that i used with my new setup. i was running 8.5" slicks with a stock honda axle. although the axle broke with slicks i had a spare at home and was able to get back and swapped so i could make one last pass with 2 minutes to go. best time was a 13.5@113mph. i took off the slicks with this time.

Use your E-Brake and put some load on it at the line. Thats normally how they brake. One of my friends ran a few 10 seconds on stock axles and i know alot of others on here have to, its just about preload.

I know a guy doing low 11's in a 27Xwhp NA B20 (not kidding), and he runs stock axles. The deal is that used OEM axles are work-hardened, thats one reason they work so well. I would suspect the best axle would be one of the aftermarket 'monster' axles that was run on a street car for a few thousand miles.

that sucks man. i have been extremely lucky with axles. i have made many 11 sec. passes on OEM axles. now making close to 600whp and still stock axles are holding up. i guess some get lucky, some dont.

i though it was about the height... i've had quite a few wheel hop which ended up backing out bolts at times, however.. 100k total and 35k boosted miles, stock height no problems

Even if the axles are free, change your driving habits so you don't have to be pushed off the track and under a car for 30 minutes.

OEM axles not replacements. they are so shitty.

I have broken my fair share of axles, and by that pic it broken in one of the strongest places, i would say that the axle was not torqued properly and it had some movement, i saw the same thing happen on a car when they forgot to tighten the spindle nut. I'm not saying that you didn't tighten it, just if you were going to break a part of an axle its usually the inner joint bearings or holder.

I always used to break my axles in my 200whp integra, but now that i have over 400 whp i don't seem to break them as often, must be able to turn the tires easier.

A good practice is to always put some grease on the axle splines before putting the axle in the hub, it will torque better and will be tight, if you have ever had a car that clicked when letting the clutch out in the front, its because the axle was not lubricated and torqued properly, very common on hondas

ummm...i would have thought that is the weakest part of the axle because its the furthers place away from the power source ie. tranny. its the spot on the axle that sees the most torsion...the spot that has twisted the most because the axle is so long. im curious to know how any degrees relative to the spline at the tranny this axle actually did twist....? any guesses?
