SSAutochrome's turbos and why they may be better! *LINK*
http://www.differentracing.com...drama/
it appears a chinese manufacturer is making knockoffs of XSpower turbos, which ssautchrome was selling....
now in the newer ssautchrome auctions, it appears that they don't sell the knock off xspowers anymore...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...86791
I'm assuming all of this, but it seems like thats the truth since...
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1097918
clearly shows what looks like to be a chinese xspower turbo.

No. SSAC Has sold Stone Mountain turbos for years.
The search might not bring it up anymore, but I had a Stone Mountain TD05 that I bought from SSAC. When I attempted to thread in the studs on the turbine housing, I broke the casting into three pieces. The casting was terrible, which also extended to the compressor housing, the wheels, and the CHRA itself. Most turbos have a vacuum cast turbine wheel, either made out of steel or inconel. This one was made of cast iron. zzzzzzWWwweeeeeeeeee clatter clatter clatter.
If you don't beleive me, just look at the auction that you provided. Look at how bad the casting shift is on the compressor outlet!!!
Disclaimer: I still use SSAC Wastegates, V-bands and flanges

did your compressor housing have that flat area with the serial no. stamped??
i'm just wondering... cuz thats one of the main differences between the turbos

Those look exactly the same as the ones I saw when I was just getting into F/I about 8 or 9 months ago. I doubt they're any different.
On a positive note, I've been happy with my SSAC wastegate and BOV. Knock on wood

Re: (undercoverdc2)
Ive been running the new ssac turbos and they are a very good design. the internals are IDENTICAL to the garrett internals in quality and looks. Ur just paying half the price.. shurgs

I love the description! lol
"T3 / T4 FLANGE
FITS T3 AND T3/T4 MANIFOLDS"
"THIS TURBO CAN EASILY DO 25 psi
Great whp ON B SERIES SWAPS"
If you think their internals are the same quality as garrett you're on crack...

I don't think they are, I was stating that if they some how would start using garrett internals, they wouldn't be too bad. I wouldn't run one, but my dad is going to rip it apart and compare to a garrett just to see what is up in there.
And the wheels and housings and crap I don't think even interchange.

Do you plan on doing some material analysis of the internals to find out exactly what type of steel/alloy Garrett and SSAC use? Just pulling it apart and looking at it won't tell you jack **** about the exact materials used and their properties.

I would hope that if the quality is worse it should be obvious by the comparing the materials beside each other. I don't exactly want to lab test this ****.
Maybe I can incorporate some thermo lab testing. Like blowing the turbo up or something fun like that.

Blow them up then send me pieces of each like the compressor/turbine wheels and parts of the housings and bearings. I can probably sneak them into the lab and do some testing.

Sounds like a plan. I think a nice charge in the each housing might do just fine.

the reason why everyone wants to know if they r gonna be good or better is that they are insanely cheap like buying wal-mart brand pop u know its not gonna taste as good but its cheaper and gets the job done in a similar fashion.
u want baller **** save ur money.
u want wal-mart go buy it.
write back and let us know.
