im looking at buying a spoolin performance log manifold for my gsr engine as well as 3" downpipe and 3" exhaust. I will be using a .60 trim Garrett turbo built by The Shodan and looking to make around 350whp. This will be a DD street car. Is this manifold a good choice?

 

For driving alot on the street and for a DD yes its a good choice. will never crack or have to worry about it. for 350whp its a decent choice. anything more i'd go with a mini ram or ramhorn.

 

Yea, 350 is as high as i want to go, anywhere from like 330-350 is what im looking at making

 

wow man ill tell ya log manifolds dont get much love on here, but I have been trying to get people to realize you dont need a 800 dollar ramhor or 1000 dollar topmount to make power.

I run the pfab log manifold with a t3/66 turbonetics and made 589hp with it @28psi.

turbo is now bad, and just bought the new billet 67/65 and will run it on the log also just to prove more of a point.

the log is a good manifold man just need to be carefully who you buy it from because quality means alot.

A log manifold is generally more reliable and all you need for sub 500hp. Don't listen to the hype.

You'll be fine with the Spoolin log at that whp.

I have had two mani/DP combos from Phil @ Spoolin, a log combo & an A-spec combo, and the quality & fitment was top notch. I ran a Bullseye 50 trim t3/t04B with the log, and it was a super fun setup, the combination of the log mani & the size of the turbo made it a spooling machine, 301 whp @ 14 psi on a bone stock LS, seeing maximum pressure (spool) by 3800 rpm!

spoolin performance makes a good product and for what you are looking to go for should be great. Having a log manifold will help to spool up the turbo quicker than most other style manifolds and will help you creating a more street friendly powerband. good luck!

 

now that's got me excited! I've got the sp log manifold on a built b16 motor and i have a new garrett t3/t4 50 trim turbo. hoping for 350 to 400bhp fingers crossed.

 

The reason they dont get much love is they suck at flow past 6000 rpms.. yea, they might do the job, but in the upper rpm range, you want a better flow. A ram horn or mini ram will solve this.

I use a log on my b20 cuz im not revving much past 6k.

OP: if its going on a GSR, look into a better flowing manifold.

Spoolins manifold are welded better than others ive bought which failed. Im not going to mention the company, but Phil at Spoolin should hook you up.

Is there any warranty's on their parts... try and send it back and hope they send it welded back...

 

I dont think your power level had anything to do with that. Is your dump tube is merged into your downpipe, without a flex section?

nope, open atmosphere dump tube(goes to about level with bottom of oil pan).

Mine did that in the picture too. I just had my local shop weld it back up and its been fine since. It also developed small hairline cracks in the runners but I believe those are my fault as the exhaust under my car sometimes hits speedbumps and what not. Ive had the manifold for over 4 years now though so im happy.

not to bump a near month old thread but that's a SUPER easy fix. best bet imo is to look up a welding shop in your area and have them do it. why this and not an exhaust shop? generally a real welding outfit will have a TIG which that appears to have been done with in the first place, they also will grind the carbon out of the inside around the area to be welded so it doesn't pop while welding.
