Default special or home depot will do?

special or home depot will do? thats the question! i have the turbo bolted to the manifold using regular home depot bolts. then it hit me. these suckers are gonna get hot! REAL HOT!> and im worried that the bolts could melt or something else worse? i also need to bolt the exhaust flange up to the turbo? can i use home depot bolts or must i find high temp bolts? thanks

Steel melts at over 2000 deg. I think you should be fine with HD bolts. Just make sure you use lock washers and or locknuts that DON'T have nylon lock rings in them.

My friend is using regular OSH hardware on his wastegate. He said he doesnt have any problems. As am I, im also using some OSH bolts to hold up my wastegate, and so far nothing.

i read some where that they should be 8.8 or 12.9 grade steel.

i got some 8.8 grade bolts at home depot, they are in the sliding droors sold in little baggies and have 8.8 stamped on top the bolt.

make sure you get some locking washers along with them, vibration will shake them loose.

Oh yea, i forgot to mention, my bolts were 12.9 grade steel. So like raceACCORDingly said, make sure they are either grade 8.8 or 12.9.

found some 8.8 bolts at a hardware store. they said there is no such thing as 12.9.......WHO KNOWS. would you guys put some never seize on them too

I dont think the never seize would stand up to the temps. Plus I have never had a problem with them seizing. IF anything people have a problem keeping the nuts on, cuase the vibration make them loosen.
