Some ceramic coated hotness
now i question it and think maybe the ceramic coating shop made a mistake when doing my manifold and downpipe.
even the guys at first state motorsports were surprised how it looked.
i'm gonna give them a call if possible (traveling this weekend) but hopefully they can have the shop confirm.

Id have to agree that it looks like powder coating not ceramic. Powder coating is allot cheaper then ceramic! Although, it could be that clear coat stuff the performancecoatings.com was talking about. I know my coated manifold does not look like that. Where are the pics of your turbo?
Let us know how it works out for ya.
Here is a pics of what my coating looks like

I will definately have the shop verify.
if it was powdercoating, it will be completely unacceptable. I will NOT run the manifold or turbo, unless I can get verbal confirmation from the shop that performed the work that it is.
I paid a significantly large amount of money to get this done, and I know powdercoating costs fractions of what I paid

downpipe

manifold

i also had my dumptube, wastegate elbow, and turbo exhaust housing done.
i had it done here locally, manifold was 45, downpipe 45, dumptube 15, elbow 15, and exhaust housing for 35 = 155.

Id run it, and if it ***** up take it back and throw it through their front window and say
Fix my ****...IM RICK JAMES BITCH!!!!
m,ine was like a semi gloss and changed to more of a satin after heat cycling a few times (as directed)... but its not chalky... As i mentioned its gauranteed good too 2000 degrees too....</TD></TR></TABLE>
oh nice, yours was glossy too...
i'll just run it and cross my fingers

Lol, I certainly hope that isnt powdercoat! We used one of our local places to do this coating, whom we have dealt with numerous times beore. This is the first time I saw the black from them, and was suprised as well how glossy it looked. But, we have a lot of stuff powder coated, and this didnt look or feel like powder. It has more of a ceramic feel, and seemed a lot thicker than the "cerama-chrome" stuff we normally get.
Jimmy- imma call em up tomorrow to get the specs on this coating, as Dan originally spoke with them and they said 2000 degree capability. Dont sweat anything though, you know I got your back should there be some kind of mix-up. But again, im fairly confident, as these guys seem to know their game when it comes to this.

Well the one post I saw on DIY coatings said surface temps dropped from 850 to 650 or something close. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to ceramic coat it, bake it, then prep & coat it with a high-temp powder coating?
