Solid motor mount...
the first picture is the complete mount... the pieces at least... i havent weldede them together yet... the left is what i made and the right is a stock mount (stock si drivers side mount...)
the thing i dont really like about how i did was the smaller piece how i made it... as u can see from this picture... the larger piece has a sort of "lip" that sits on on top of the mount... i wanted to make the same lip on the little piece which goes into it but i wasnt paying attention and made the hole just a tad big... actually made it the EXACT size of the piece i was going to machine down (the smaller piece) which i also wanted a similar lip... the little piece sits on the bottom of the mount anyway but do u think i should just go ahead and make another "little piece" of this one will do fine... or will the welds crack? being as that brass colored p[art at the bottom of the mount at the bottom is about 1/8" thick... i think it would work... but i dont know if i should trust it... opinions?

Re: Solid motor mount... (1)
I built a solid mount for a friend's 98 hatch I thought that would solve his problems but later found that just the ES motor mount inserts would fix the broken mount problem.

Re: Solid motor mount... (Tom)
One thing I noticed about solid motor mounts is that it has a tendency to weaken everything around it. Not a deterent as much, but I'll give a little movement over a ripped unibody. BTW, is that a side motor mount? I would think a solid rear mount connected to at least 3 tranny bolts and supported to that crossmember would be more reliable. A 1/4" al plate, 2 heims joints and a pipe with some welding and you can adjust preload, a little tilt, and a bit stronger than the 16 gauge layered unibody.
