Nope never been done before.

A lot of people recomend turboing D series to get more power out of them, its a cheaper alternative to doing a motor swap.

http://www.homemadeturbo.com and searching will help you out a lot with this topic, its litterly been covered to death on here. You can get some decent numbers using the stock internals btw.

i ws going to till i found out that you can only put about 7 puonds of boost to it. it didnt seem worth it to me but of course i got some bigger problems than a turbo(cracked head)

psi has nothing to do with how much an engine can take a t35 at 7 pounds wont make the same power a gt42r will make at 7 pounds, get my drift? D-series motors (d16z6) can handle a max of around 260whp on the stock internals before they start hsooting out of the side and destroying things. Mind you this is with an amazing tune. Also the way the d-series head it made it can easily have the head lift with boost, just geta MLS headgasket and ARP's and you'll be good to go.

but just think if you did a swap and then boost that. thats better imo... drop a b18 or somethin in there, its going to make you feel a lot better in the end

You also have to consider the price of replacement parts for the D as opposed to a B. You can find replacement engines all day long for a couple hundred bucks or so. I recently picked up a D16Z6 with two Z6 tranny's for a hundred bucks.

Okay, think about what you just said and this kids budget. If he really wants a forced induction vehicle and he did a swap first, how much longer would it take for him to finally have that turbo or supercharger? A BUTT load longer than if he boosted the single cam. I could spend the 3,000-4,000 it costs for a b18c1 on my single cam and put out probably twice as much power than your b18 would stock.

D series are for racers on a budget. Don't suggest he do a swap if you KNOW he can't afford it.

You can get 200-250hp to the flywheel on a D16 by tuning carefully and properly. 150-200hp to flywheel on a D15. Of course this is on a well taken care of motor that's running smoothly. Those are the averages I've seen around here. You could probably get less/more depending on your set-up, condition of parts, and tune.

btw, I'll be boosting a D15 before I go to a built D16 or B series.

exactly, people are giving d-series away. IMO all the d-series guys should let everyone talk tons of trash about d-series. The better b-series appears to those who are "not in the know" the cheaper our replacment d-series parts will be.

people desperately want b-series. just about every b18a/b/c has been scooped up out of the junkyard as well as every b16. the rarity of these things is what keeps them expensive.

turbo D =

there are a lot of d-series worse than the d16y7

think about all the 8valve motors.

if it's 4valves per cylinder, it's got potential. If not, then put a 4valve per cylinder head on. if you can't do this. get a different car.

pushrod sucks
