Default SOHC Turbo stats

Can someone post their times or HP for me. If you have done more than just the turbo and so forth I would like to know the set up. I am still trying to decide on whether to get a turbo or not. I know you guys dislike the GReddy kit, but I heard it was a kit you could build on. I'm just looking to see if it is worth it. Someone out there has to have stuck with the SOHC. Tell me what your pushing...

Hehe, not me. I hate the SOHC!

SWAP THEN TURBO SWAP THEN TURBO SWAP THEN TURBO ... you're rich, aren't you?

I'm using a SOHC turbo, although I can tell u it has costed me a lot of money to get to where I stand now. You would be much better off getting a B-series swapped first, then starting to work on the turbo. SOHC engines are not very strong for turbo unless you build them up internally. SOHC connecting rods are as thin as toothpicks. Unless you are crazy, I don't see it being worthwhile.

Down with the SOHCs!! You'll never catch me trying to mod one.

Anyway, I made ~170ft/lbs and ~180whp at 12psi. thats untuned with a t25 and 8:1cr.

I'm running a Greddy 18g turbo rite now, it spools freakin quick like under 3000.
I lose traction once boost comes in, top end is okay because of VX muffler(to much backpressue). So far untuned, just slap it in and full throttle. Planning 13+ psi with head gasket and some tunning.

Don't let go yet, use what you have...

My car has been in and out of the shop since I put the turbo on. I really haven't been able to dyno it. Running .5bar,2.5 exhaust, 12:1 disc, untuned I can beat I/H/E GSR's, if that's helps.

There's a member here running 210whp on his SOHC. Greyzone, I think that's his name.

Bah humbug 210. I think he said he was at 190 because he didn't want it redlined on the dyno. He's about maxed out with his Greddy turbo, but I bet it's a little more fun just putting around town than my T3/4. Maybe once I replace the 310's with something bigger and do the VAFC "hack" I will like it more "in town".

On the highway though, it just screams. Really scares the crap out of the lightly modified Mustang boys when a Civic goes flying by.

I run mid and low 15's with stock setup, and beat most GSR with basic bolt ons. I pretty sure I can beat GSR power Civics rite now....

i was running low 13s with my sohc turbo setup at 10-12psi of boost. I have boosted 15psi before..but that was at 5300 feet i ran a 13.4 @ 104 (i think).

but ya..if you wanna go quick..go b-series.

Well as for my .02, yes you can go quicker with a B motor, but i'll be dammed if you cant go quick with a D. I'm at 10psi regularly, 12 psi on occasion, thus far I laid down a 14.2 @ 100.2mph, and that was with a horrible 2.29 60' time and this is 100% untuned. Slicks, tuning and 15psi and low 13's/ high 12's are just a heartbeat awat. Long live the mighty D16

I've seen I've read and I've heard of 13 second stock SOHC's.

Its all fun no matter what.

I'd say build the SOHC turbo, get some experience. When or if you blow it, you know your ready for a B series. At least you will have your turbo set up bought and will just have to retrofit to the B series motor. thats what I plan on doing.

besides a turboed sohc is faster than a NA (stock, maybe i/e/h) b series and more fun. Damn I'm not far from GSR's now with my D16Z6 swap in my hatch.

d16z6 greddy kit, stock boost 175ph/160tq to the wheels after being turbo'd for 3 years. GSR's, TYPE-R's, DSM's, hahaha...its alot of fun on the street, you should see the look no a type-r owners face when he gets beat by a sohc. Most of these haters did'nt have there cars setup right, so they just blame is on the poor lil sohc, engine swaps are not the perfect solution, they have probs too, but you know the grass is always greener...

By stock boost you mean 5.5 psi right?

How can you possibly pull those power #'s at 5.5 psi with the greddy TD04 kit?

Please list your mods.

My SOHC D16z6 Turbo Setup ran 14.8 at 99mph. That was with a shitty launch and very untuned. I am running stock injectors, stock pump. t25 turbo, no intercooler, 5th injector for added fuel.. I don't care what anyone says. My d16 has Been Boosted for the past 4 months HARD! and Beat up hard before the turbo and by previous owner. i run 5-7 psi daily on 94 octane and octane boost. still detonates a little if i boost over 6psi. i'm thinking of trying th vafc fuel managment setup.
