I guess there is no appreciation for quality.
Yes there is, that's why I say go GReddy. One thing that has always seperated GReddy from the more comming DRAG, F-Max, RevHard etc.. kits is quality and fitment, GReddy defined quality, otjer companies played catchup and today, most readily available turbo kits are actually very reliable. Just ask DRAG G1 owners how the DRAG G3 compares in terms of fitment and quality!

If you are looking for a QUALITY turbo kit, this might be it. Subaru uses the exact same turbo on the WRX Sti. That's pretty cool. The greddy is used on light duty trucks.
Umm yea.... GReddy/Mitsubishi is also used to power more than a few 10 second/800+whp Supra's and DSM's buddy

I remember when I installed my Greddy kit that I was very pleased with the quality and fitment. Now, after installing the Apexi I have a new standard. I've never seen a Drag kit up close but if the Greddy is higher quality then people must want to pay 3k for a larger turbo. That's kinda what I'm getting at too. I found the Apexi kit for so cheap becasue no one wanted it because of the high dollar to small turbo ratio. If you haven't noticed in this hobby people want it bigger. Take wheels, wings and exhaust tips forexample.

I am happy for the 800 hp Supras. That's great. My point there was that if a factory manufacturer like Subaru would spec this turbo on the their high zoot model it must be good. There is the consideration of turbo life expectancy too.

My greddy leaked oil from the main seals in less then a year. When I called greddy they said it was becasue I used fully synthetic oils. Hmmmm.

I'm not trying to bash all you people with the Greddy unit so don't take it personally. Hell, I used to love mine. It's just that the Apexi IHI turbo is waaaaaay nicer.

Right on. I think us being SOHC is enough of a social status hurdle. Please don't get me wrong. There is no better way to make your car go fast for the money than with the Greddy kit. If you can find a deal on the Apex that brings it to even close to the same price as the Greddy, jump on it. That's my experience.

Peace

I am up in the air on either kit. The price difference is not big deal, I leave you pay for what you get.
I have never seen the greddy kit on a sohc here in OH, but i know of 3 ppl with the greddy kit on their si's and they are happy with it.

I am sure I will be happy with either kit for the sohc, reason I am eager to get a kit is I'm not happy with my nitrous system (install for just a week now).

I have a question I would like you guys to answer.
With the kit I will of course get a boost gauge. I already have a fuel and oil pressure (greddy), would getting a egt be worth it now or wait till later when I turn up the boost?

I am pretty set on getting the ProfecB, and timer...

Thanks again guys.

Sounds like me... I had my nitrous kit (zex) for like 3 or 4 months then I sold it cause it just didn't do it for me. And I only ran a 15.4 @ 91 w/ a .501 R/T BUT... a 2.4 60ft (God I need to learn how to launch). As for the EGT. I think you could get away without running one if you use either kit with the standard fuel setup supplied and the stock boost levels. But still it would always be good to have one.

i love my greddy kit
its perfect for a sohc
especially for people on a budget
like me
the apexi is a great kit too, so ive heard, but its a bit too expensive if you ask me
the main reason i went with a greddy turbo in the first place was because i was too broke to buy a swap, so i scraped up enough to buy a used greddy kit with intercooler, and gauges for $1300
now that i felt boost
i wont ever go back

Exactly, I 100% agree with RoaringTurtle. I think the greddy kit is the best budget performance piece because you don't have to get everything right away. You can start with just the kit, then intercooler, BOV, and so on..
