Default SOHC GReddy Turbo kit. Do you like it?

For all the sohc turbo people running the greddy kit, do you like it? if so or do not like it, why do you or dont you like it? Is it upgradeable, Like after getting tired of the 15g can you run a evo3 big 16g or maybe a 18g? How much power are you making with the kit and what intercooler setup are you running?

thanks!

Jason

I love mine Running a JRC FMIC. I like it because its bolt on, and huge gains over stock.

I'm running the 19T on my car. JRC intercooler and custom chare piping with a custom DP. It seems to bring some VERY nice gains over stock, although I am a little pissed about the spiking issues I am having. My guess is the elbow is the cause as its very restrictive.

I have yet to hit up the dyno. Depends also on the amount of boost one runs... at the 5psi I am currently at I say around 160whp. At 10psi I think 200-220whp is in reach. Check out http://www.turbod16.com.. Lots of dynos there.

I hate the greddy kits. They are overpriced, they have small piping, shitty fuel management, and you can't upgrade at all because your stuck with a gay flanged manifold.

Your better off building your own kit.

Yep. Greddy = pay alot, don't get ur hands dirty, upgradeable? (not as much as a pieced together kit), questionable amount of power gain.

I have $1,200 into my kit and that includes the rebuild of the turbo, intercooler, new BOV, etc. I wouldn't say that too bad, would you?

I didn't get the kit to be on any kind of bandwagon. I got it because I live in California and emissions are a problem. I wanted something that would be easy to pass off as legal, so this was the best option I had. I can upgrade should I ever desire to. I was fortunate enough to get the 19T turbo, not the 15g. It should be more then enough for me to reach my goals. I already have made a custom DP and a few other things and I don't use the blue box. Its tuned with Crome and so far on only 5psi, I would say there is no "question" regarding the gains.

Yeah that's not too bad if ya need some somewhat legal. The turbo is too small for my tastes though. I'm mostly talking about people buying the kit and IC new, defintely not worth a thought, unless it's all used.

My custom kit was about $1100...

Theres that damn greddy hatin fool!!!! I knew you would pop up in here....hehe

Anyway to the thread starter, honestly this topic has been covered dozens of times..You should try searching before making posts like this one...But since I am here I will put in my .02...If your going for anything quicker than low 12s,(in a light chassis btw), this is not the turbo setup for you..If you want a good all around torquey powerband and a fun to drive street car, go for it!!! But as mentioned, understand that these kits really are not upgradeable......

ive done a few kits/custom setups now. I still love my greddy kit for introduction me to boost. its great RELIABLE fun. killed all the b-series round my area. gredy kits make around 160whp stock, and can be upgraded to 200-220whp.

i defaintly DONT recommend a n00b getting a custom kit for there first setup though! BBKA has it wrong there.

Im not a newb to forced induction or even turbo honda's. Just new to turbo sohc's

I had a b16a turbo hatch at one point and also it was b18b ls turbo at one point as well. I sold it when it was b16a turbo. I used a Inline pro SS manifold t3 flanged with a precision gt 32-51 turbo and used drag intercooler piping with hks ss bov and turbo smart 32mm waste gate and also drag fmic with a 255lph fuel pump and rc 740cc injectors and was tuned with neptune by Jason Hunt when I sold the car. I now am bying a 1995 civic ex and I dont plan on doing another motor swap, rather just have sohc turbo and make roughly 200whp on stock motor. I wanna go the cheapest but most reliable way of doing it. I dont want to use a HF manifold but actually a nice decent log manifold like inline pro's for b series. any ways here was my old turbo hatch

B16A WITH PRECISION GT32-51

and back when it was B18B Turbo using my drag t3t4 that later i sold and went to precision

Greddy kit using an safc at the time (emanage was not out and hondata was still new) 270cc injectors and a fuel presure regulator. used a greddy profect-b controller.
@9.2lbs of boost. 210hp and 192 torque.

^^^^
Nuff said about being too tiny or over priced...

You can buy one used off ebay for an awesome dela. the E-manage is programable and comes wiht 310cc injectors. if you ge a newer 96+ kit those have the 19t turbo and can do about 300-310 wheel power, compaired to the older 92-95 ones that have the 15t and do tup to about 260ish.

i have seen kits in great shape with fmic, and bov going for $1100 and all you do is bolt and go. no fab work no custom this, and it looks goof, not getto rigged and assed up welds.

Sorry, but I am not wrong. What do you learn from bolting on a turbo kit? Nothing besides where the parts go.

I would recommend a noob having a friend that has done this before help him with a custom kit. It's not rocket science lol. You will learn a lot more actually building a kit yourself than just bolting one on.
