sohc ex running 14psi with apexi-afc making 271-300whp???
My freind has a 1998 civic ex with a turbonetics turbo kit(60-1turbo) running 14psi making 271hp to the wheels. How is this so with the Apexi afc. He has some bigger injectors,wide-band,fmu and he bumped the compression down with pistons and cometic head gasket. He told me that he is running stock timing??? i have always heard that the afc actually advances timing. I dont get it. everyone rags the afc and the fmu, but his car is almost at the 300hp marker. He made the 271 with a 2.5 exhaust and now he has a 3" dp back. Everyone input is greatly appreciated

Well, assuming your friend is being 100% honest, keep in mind that he is using a turbo a fair bit larger than 99% of the SOHC crowd uses (usually GReddy/Mitsu TD05's or small Garrett T3's). Couple that with 14psi and rather aggresive timing and you'll make numbers. You said he's using larger injectors but still running the stock ECU with an FMU, so I'm gonna guess they are no bigger than 310's. Top it off with a typical (let's call it a 10:1) FMU @ 14psi, you're looking at somewhere around 180psi rail pressure behind those injectors, so yea they'll squirt a fair amount of fuel before something gives from the ridiculous amount of pressure.
BTW, remember making numbers on a dyno isn't hard, driving it day to day is another story. I've used an FMU and the AFC-hack, and I can tell you first hand, nothing compares to a properly tuned ECU.

APex can handle it..the only thing is that he will probably see detonation in high rpms due to the advanced timing...
I have 2 friends that both have 260whp and theyre tuned on an Apex AFC/VAFC... They've been running that for around 3 years.
Both cars are 12 sec rides

Re: (TurboTagTeam)
i beleive he has 440-550 injectors. And he does drive it everyday. He blew the first motor but this motor has been in for about a year now. he has been through 3 turbochargers. Im suprised that it has lasted this long but there has to be something special that he has done. He is completely honest. He was actually inspired to get turbo due to my 90 prelude....RIP.
