Default SOHC or DOHC?

Right now i got a 97 Ek coupe 2 door ex with the D16y8. its turboed on 6 psi only with 170whp on just a drivable tune. nothing fine and perfect about it. i got about 5k i just feel like spending...what should i do? build the SOHC or buy a DOHC? im eventually someday wanting a 300whp+ out of this car and to be a safe and reliable daily driver. Any suggestions? if worse comes to worse i can just keep all the piping and intercooler and just buy a different exh manifold and turbo for a DOHC swap. not sure. any help is appreciated.

what kind of turbo are you running?

Depending on that i (man i wish i had that 5g's to dump into my y8) would build that expletiveer.

Check my sig, I'm making that with a t3/t4 50trim with a .48a/r backside.

Dseries love booooost for a daily.
