Default sohc build.. not same as everyone else's.

ok, i have 94 ex.. d16z6 stock head/block. i've decided that i can get more than enough power out of my sohc via F/I(turbo). now i want to make 250-300 whp. i was thinking of rebuilding the tranny and adding an lsd. sohc's are cheap and if i blow the motor i won't be in short supply of getting another one. what would u guys suggest i do to get 250whp. i'm thinking of building the block but i'm not sure what to get. as far as the tranny goes. i've never taken one apart. are they hard to rebuild?> i'm open to all suggestions. and no.. i don't want b-series. i just want a good sohc turbo build.

You can save a big chunk of change if you want under 240WHP, thats the max on stock internals for the block. Lots of people are gettin incredible numbers and reliability with Vitara pistons and Tuner Toy rods which is a cheap setup..
If you dont want to rebuild the tranny, y8 trannys have steel forks and is stronger then the rest i believe.

Well I'm not sure if this helps you at all but I'll try:

I bought a full kit from a fellow H-T member, awsome deal for a COMPLETE kit minus an in-tank fuel pump and one elbow fitting for the charge pipe. So there's a way to save a little money too. Either way, it's set at 7 PSI right now and I will be running the car COMPLETELY stock. What I mean is just a VAFC, no chipped ECU or any of that bullshit, and 100 % stock internals. So Generally I feel I could run 7 to 10 PSI and be safe on it. The seller stated the kit came off a 98 EX and put 217 to the wheels, don't know how accurate that is or not but either way with a full exhaust and this turbo kit I should be looking at 200-250 max, so I would figure if you went a few steps further and got some decent injectors, a chipped and tuned ECU should be able to get close if not reach your goal.

I will be using 76mm Vitara pistons + Eagle rods, OEM bearings/water pump, yadayadayada + stock rebuilt head. I am shooting for 250-300whp. This is on a D15B VTEC.....It would work the same for a Z6, slthough most people just use 75mm Vitara's if you choose to go that route.

I wanna know how you figure your build/goals aren't the same as everyone else's (in your title). That method is EXACTLY what everybody else does and has sparked the whole "turbo D" thing and there's TONS of info on it.

So I don't usually say this, but SEARCH. There's a million and one sources for turbocharging D series motors.

I would recommend running 200whp on stock internals, if you go to 250 you're going to need forged rods/pistons/bearings and such.

It's your car, your money, your decision.

EDIT:
PS: Reported, we have a forced induction (turbo/supercharger/nitrous) forum for a reason. This is WAY better suited for there, not here.
