so this is what a built sr20 looks like....(update)
Here's a little update: waitin on a few front cover/ oil pump before i put the entire bottom end back together. Right now, just have the upper oil pan on and the rear main seal. Tore the motor down in my bedroom, completely built in my bedroom, 100% by my lonesome.... (eagle rods/ wiseco)

just curious what's with the cooling jackets around cylinder 1 (or 4 depending on how SR20's count)? Looks nice though and for doing it in your bedroom

Yeah, i'm going with the apexi 1.1mm headgasket. I just put a new oem head gasket on there for the picture . My buddy and I took both our blocks in to get bored and cranks balanced at the same time. The machine shop seemed VERY sketchy at first and for a few minutes I was convinced they had never done this before. They were really good about gettin it done in the time frame we requested. This is also my first engine build ever.

yeah, its really fun actually. Kind of annoying being cramped in my bedroom, but then again I like how i can work on it rain or shine outside. HUGE sense of accomplishment- that is for sure.

I'm aware that the sr bottom end is capable of over 500whp. I just put the 400 for now, I'd rather have the sense of security with a strong bottom end regardless of horsepower level. That's just me.

yeah, there has been a huge amount of stress involved....mostly just money and if i'm going to make rent because I spent 500 on valvetrain the first week of the month type of thing. Feels damn good and I encourage everyone that needs a rebuild to do it yourself because its safe to say the satisfaction of doing it yourself is greater than the satisfaction of getting it back from a machine shop.

u need a clen spot so what's better than ur room beside if u dont know something just look on the internet for it ( computer ) and ur close to what ur doing

Smart man. I started like that, then got greedy and turned the boost up and blew up my rebuilt engine. It sucked *** to throw away the time and money. It wasn't built though, so not as much money as you're putting in.

How did you know how to do it all, like measuring the clearances and all. Did you go out and buy all the tools to do the job?

Well, I pretty much looked up everything on forums for measuring and what not. I had to buy 0-3" mic set accurate to .0001", boring gauge accurate also to .0001", piston ring filer, compressor, and expander, torque wrench, few sockets, some feeler gauges....probably more but thats all I recall. Its fairly easy, if you rememberd how you took it all apart, its just the reverse
