snaped axels
Yesterday i spend all day working on my car to finsish it up before i get tuned getting my catch can and motor mounts all set I have driven the car around the block a hand full of times before put about 15 miles on the new build I finsihed and decided to go down the street with it i get half way down the street maybe going 15 mph the car starts shakeing and than makes a horrible clicking /grinding sound the car wont move in any gear if i let up on the clutch it makes a grinding sound. pushed the car home though it was my tranny jacked the car back up and we put the car in gear and let off the clutch and i could see my axle has just snaped inside on the cv joint near the tire. The car has driven fine every time before that the axles arent that old how dose this just happen going 15 mph ? and Would you guys get a stock or aftermarket axel i wont be running slick but street drag radials built b16 400whp (hopfully) Also in anycase I have a jdm b16a motor in a 99 civic SI what axels will fit the 99-00 si exels or do i have to get the ones to match my motor and trans with the 92-95 jdm b16a is the same as 94-97 usdm delsols which do i look for

Re: snaped axels (b16bri)
If the axles were binding in any way, or the moly lube was thrown out of them, they could snap at that place. I ran a set of axles for 3k miles that had all the boots torn w/o any probs besides clicking, so it was probably binding in your case. I'd be curious if you had the axles pushed all the way into the tranny. If they weren't, that could create enough binding to ruin them.
The good thing about remanufactured axles is that they come work-hardened, assuming they used OEM core parts. Aftermarket axles suposedly should be too, although I've seen some stg2/3's that snap with 'ordinary' power levels too.

Re: snaped axels (HiProfile)
so are you saying i should save the money and get a stock axle which could also save my tranny from some stress unlike going with a stage 2/3 racing axel ? do i just get a set for a 99 si or do i have to find one to match the motor i have in the car with is a 92-95 jdm b16a

**** breaks, welcome to owning a 15 year old car that's been hammered on it's whole life.
DRs are a street tire compound, you are fine with stock axles on them as long as you have no wheelhop.
If the inner cup of the CV joint is heat discolored I'll second HiProfile's suggestion that they are binding, and add to that binding axles are usually caused by overly lowering a vehicle.
All B-series axles are interchangeable between Civics and integreas, but the driver's axle has to match the era of intermediate shaft you have. 90-93 female intermediate shaft requires 90-93 driver's axle, 94-01 male intermediate shaft requires 94-01 driver's axles.

While an intermediate shaft usually stays with it's original engine/trans, stuff does get swapped around for one reason or another. You need to look at the driver's side before ordering.
