Default smoking on start-up

Alright, this is my first turbo set-up and I have a couple questions.

1st question: How often should I change my oil?

2nd question: Seeing white smoke out of my exhaust on start-up. My tuner says it’s normal but since this is my first turbo car, I’m being a bit paranoid. The turbo and all the components are new. Then smoke has no scent and condensation comes out of the exhaust. There’s no smoke after it warms up and none under boost. Also, there’s a oil drip coming from the return line and I’m going to probably use Teflon tape to stop the leak, but unsure if the two are related. I bought an ATP .065 restrictor just incase I need one.

Definitely teflon that oil return.

My car had white smoke when I first turbo'd it. Got it tuned and drove it a little and I don't have it anymore.

Change your oil every 2-3000 miles. Mobil 1 full synthetic or Royal Purple. 5w30 for really cold climate and 10w30 for normal, though it's not that big a deal.

does the smoke dissipate almost instantly after it comes out the tailpipe or does it stay around as it lingers?, its getting colder cars smoke just from the moisture until they warm up

it lingers then dissipates. like a good amount comes out. I’m thinking it’s just the cold, but I wanted to be sure. The car hadn’t been driven in over a month since it was tuned. Not sure if that has bearing on what’s happening.

and i'm using Mobile1 10w30, not sure if my oil change interval should be any different than what 8YourV8 said.

Oil changes like mentioned above with normal use of the car. However in your case keep an eye on it. Adrian the way you will being using this car at track events your oil is more prone to breaking down quicker. Keep an eye on oil temp and color. With the added heat and abuse your car will be going through during track seasons you may want to change it much sooner

The smoke your seeing is condensation and is normal as mentioned over and over again

stalker status updated lol

i forgot to ask you about my oil change intervals. was going to call up there but wasn't sure if you were up there. would i be better off just changing the oil after each event just to be on the safe side or would that be overkill?

To begin with i would just change as regular. However i would check it before and after the first event. It really depends on how much abuse the car will see at these events. I don't really know how harsh you are on it. Don't forget to keep check on the oil level. Throwing the car in corners with it low on oil can cause serious trouble quickly

No stalker status here. I visit here as much as i do Carolinahondas. The post count just doesn't reflect it
