smoking like a son of a bitch
ok heres the deal, my car is burning a lot of smoke out of the exhaust only under boost. vacuum is fine, compression test revealed that everything is ok, no oil leaks, so im left to scratch my head. the motor is virtually brand new (600 miles) and it doesnt smoke at idle, only when there is a load on the motor, but it gets bad under boost. when i pull the car to a stop, it'l smoke for around 10 seconds then stop? what is the deal? any ideas? motor settup is built ls block, b16 head, 60-1 turbo, aem standalone, all the goodies? help is appreciated

shouldnt be the motor, I guess its either your turbo or your oil feed or return lines. look if there's any oil there.

I'm sure its your turbo, return line must be too restrictive. I had the same problem, at idle its fine but when you boost it and then slow down it starts puffing smoke for a few seconds then stops after a few seconds

Re: smoking like a son of a bitch (BG Boost)
it smells like a mixture of fuel and oil, its a pure white smoke, no grey black, or anything, really white, smells like fuel, but how can it be?

Re: smoking like a son of a bitch (b18b25psi)
ok get this when i put my 450 dsm injectors in with the resistor box and nothing to controll them my car smoked like a biatch. and no it was not black smoke. everyone says if its fuel its black, but if its really rich it will blown white smoke. ok so then i put my old injectors back in and it goes away. my car also does this now when i start it up due to the hondata base map i have, its super rich. but it goes away after a few secs. an no its not coolant as my compression test and leak down were great and its been doing this every morning for the last 4 months and i have not lost a drop of coolant yet. I hope this helps. i just hate it when people say there motor smokes and everyone asumes its a blown head gasket. Good luck with your problem. Oh also, did you ever see a hooked up nissan skyline get on it? they smoke like a train due to the ton of fuel thats dumped in there, and yes its also white smoke.

I have the same identicle prob. At idle no smoke, at boost white smoke then goes away. I was told running rich and possibly turbo seals.
I havent lost a drop of coolant and oil levels are good, compression test was perfect all the way and did a leak down test which was great.

Re: smoking like a son of a bitch (abraunb16)
we broke it on for 200 miles on the dyno, then tuned it up to 20 psi, then i drove it for 300 miles with no boost, then once i started boosting it, **** started to get fucked. im selling the car anyway, so ill just fix the bottom end, and park it till i get a buyer with cash or something nice for a trade

Man that's harsh, I was told my motor only needed 50 miles on it and I put 600 plus before I did any boosting, then over 1000 before I add a decent amount of timing. The motor was built tight, but I didn't want to take any chances. I only used the dyno to check my a/f during breakin and continued to up the rpm's as time/miles progressed. Best of luck, I'd just freshen up the bottomend and take it easy this time around.

Re: smoking like a son of a bitch (abraunb16)
Same thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago. I decided to see what my motor had and i left he nitrous off. Cranked the boost up to a little over 30 and when i got home the car woulnt idle for ****. When i pulled the motor apart the thrust bearing somehow flew out and lodged itself in the #3 cylinder scrapng mu cylinder wall all up. oh well time for another sleeve job. Its on its way Vince
