Default slight miss/hesitation/cutout at full throttle in top of third gear, help.

ok well I just got my ls tuned at a very reputable shop, he only did about 7 runs on the dyno and we came up with 246 whp at 9 psi on hondata, the car runs great but at the top of third and somtimes fourth at around 5,000 6,000 rpm it will lose power for just a split second, kinda like spark cut, it wasnt doing it on the dyno, but I did notice a spark under the hood one time when the tuner hit the rev limiter, help.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by moops vs moors &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">run the engine in the dark with the hood popped, check and see if your ignition wires are arcing to the valvecover....even if they aren't you should probably replace them anyways along with new plugs, if that doesn't help close the gap a bit.

Also check all OEM grounds, and injector wiring for shorts </TD></TR></TABLE>

Ok will do, plugs are very new, I dont want to replace unless very nessesary.

if i remember on my gap, mine are 0.018 - 0.020 maybe even 0.022 it has been a while since i have driven it, gator racing is taking a long time with my axle, but if i remember. try a 0.025 gap and go down from there.

try to clean the dizzy, take off the cap and with a flat head screw driver scrape off the white stuff that builds up on the little metal tabs and rotor. check you timing to, mabey it could use some slight ajusting. good luck

I have brand new cap and rotor so I dont think theres buildup yet, I will shorten the gap a bit and if that dont help il slap some 7 heat plugs in there, thanks for all the help.

you need a lower heatrange plug anyways. Just go ahead and get the 7's. Try a gap around .03 and work your way down if you need to.

I gapped them to .032 and it runs way better, nice and smooth, is there any drawback to having a small gap? is it sacrificing power to run smooth? I will get the correct plugs when I can but I really cant spend anymore on this car right now.

.032 is still too big

.028-.030

You will not run into any problems. Do it.
