Default sleeves need to be bored/honed??

was doing some crosshatching on a d15b7 when I came to the 4th cyl. it looks like it has a lil water damage. after I crosshatched it, I was looking and it's not really pitting, there's just some left over marks. you can feel just a lil tiny bit of difference. you think it'll be ok to just leave it and put in new rings? I'm on a very limited budget.

WoW !!! you have a sunnen CK-10 machine to do crosshatching ? I dont believe it
Please explain the crosshatching device your using. If it plugs into a drill then your screwed, cuz those drill units destroy the proper cross hatch in your walls.

I'll try to get some pics of it. basically the motor was sitting outside for awhile and water was sitting inside one of the cyl.

lol...no, I don't have a sunnen CK-10, and yes I was using a flex hone that you use with a drill unit. basically breaking the glaze off the sleeves. this is what my instructor told me to use, he has all ASE certifications except 1, GM parts ASE certification, only because you have to know certain things like shipping codes, etc, to pass it. he was sent a letter stating he was 1 0f 5 people long time ago to have all certifications when they didn't have 30+ certifications. so I'm pretty sure he knows what he's talking about.

Those drill units are junk, designed for the do it yourselfer quick fix farmer job, not for any type of performance build.
If I had an old V8 engine sittin here with a summit rebuild kit for a regular old town car, yeah I might use one of those to freshen up the walls before doing the rebuild vs taking the block for a true hone at the shop. Just wouldnt use em on Hondas, seen people do it later to have no ring seal.

yeah, it's not for a performance build, I'm just building it for my bro's daily driver. never gonna see boost, just regular driving.
