Re: sleeve or not.
We have done 362whp on bonestock h22 engine, that is stock sleeves, and stock pistons etc.
And 321whp on a high comp JDM H22 engine.. both held fine..
If you can get semi forged pistons that will work with the FRM sleeves the h22 has, do that and get a decent tune.
The worst thing that can happend is really a valve drop. it will totally ruin your engine, while a cracked sleeve is just about replacing pistonrings and the block itself.

Re: sleeve or not.
you do not have to change sleeves just have to overbore the cylinders 0.5mm over stock size basically buy a pistons that is .5mm larger than stock and bring the block to a reputable machine shop and have the cylinders bored/honed to matc the piston with at least a .0030 ptw

Also as mentioned above you can get VERY close if not to your goal on a BONE STOCK block... maybe it would be better to wade in and just turbo the motor as is and see if you really want to up the boost/power from there... then you can decide if you want to rebuild the bottom end.
I spent a summer in Stavanger on the west coast of Norway (my mother is from Oslo) Beautiful coastline and AMAZING girls!
Good Luck.

Re: sleeve or not.
you should never run a forged piston in a frm block they need to be sleeved to run forged pistons. mahle does make pistons for frm blocks thats what you should use if your not going to sleeve it. if you decide to use the forged pistons and not sleeve it good luck because it will not last

Re: sleeve or not.
Golden Eagle speaks the truth, I would not even consider trying for 400whp on stock block, it's not the sleeves that are the problem on H22's it's the ringlands, and I wouldn't expect to make more than 300whp on one stock, above that I would expect the ringlands to crack in no time, and if your going to boost it you will eventually want more power so honestly I would just sleeve it and do it right, otherwise you might have fun for a while with the stock block but eventually it will fail

Re: sleeve or not.
after 500whp is when I would start to think about sleeving. Golden Eagle, Benson, Dartion are what most use on here. I chose to go with Benson sleeves, but what ever you want really.
