its safe for the turbo.. most engines wont last long enough for the small particals that do get in to even matter.. it just helps scratch the cylinder walls a little better ;-).. most people i know that are local (with homemade setups) dont even run screens or filters..
Ok before anybody says anything i know..its hella ghetto! But i just wanted to make sure everything was working (boost wise) and its only for temp. Im making real intercooler pipes right now which actually connects to an intercooler.
Made that myself though, ABS plastic home depot style. $10. Notice the U sink drain right off the turbo? Thats my favorite part.

hahaha dont feel bad liam821, ive seen worse, like a whole setup with pvc pipe, worked fine till his downpipe melted right through it! oh and to the guy in an above post, that short mushroom looking blue filter is an HKS one, dont think they still make it though.

It's safe enough, since from what I saw C Jackson's car probably doesn't see a whole lot of street driving
C Jackson: You and your dad driving w/ the ear plugs in was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time

defin not a cold air intake, but it works..... typically my intercooler is dirty on the drivers side where the airfilter is next to, from sucking **** into it!

I remember someone posting a pic of their compressor wheel after a few thousand miles whom used a screen...and it was chipped to hell.
I'm sure it depends on where the compressor is mounted, and whats surrounding the inlet, but needless to say, a filter will always be better.
I'm going to run a HKS mushroom because I have no room, and take it off when I go to the track.

Im a little more curious about the screen only over the turbo....the earlier guy said it was safe but is it really; if i could make a air filter fit should i use one or just put a screen on it....I think the screen looks alot "cleaner"....ummm
