Default Should I swap to an EX tranny?

I have the greddy kit on my d16y7(LX) and I was going to be doing a clutch install soon and I was wondering if you guys would recommend a change to an EX tranny for the shorter gears. Thanks,

Pfieff

I am going to switch to the y8 tranny soon. Right now I have a y7 and I really dont like it. Revs seem to climb very slow and at the top of 3rd gear it just doesnt feel like it is pulling anymore.

genop, that is why i was thinking about swapping, just feels like there is nothing there. I was just trying to get an idea from some people that had done the swap to do what they had to say.

Everybody I've ever talked to who's done the swap absolutley loved it. My buddy has a '99 DX which we've done a min-me conversion on and it runs really well, but his 2nd and 3rd gear are sooooooooooooooooooo freaking long that it hurts. 4th? Utterly useless..

EX all the way!!! I swapped for it and it was worth every penny. Car pulls hard in 3rd and like said above 4th gear on a dx is useless.

I got mine z6 tranny for 200 which is pretty decent locally. At all the local import yards good dx trannys go for 50-75 while ex trannys go for 200-400.

Yea, that's about what I have been seeing for price, around $225-250/shipped. I just have to find one that isn't sold yet.
