Default Should I listen to JOTECH??

I am sending my block off to the earl . I called jotech, asked for a price on pistons and some rods. I want to do 83mm on a ls block. They said to do a compression of 9:5 on the pistons. Would that be a good compression ratio or go lower? The ls is like 9:2, also I am shooting for like 350 whp or more .

What does a 83mm on a ls block bring it out to, is it still a 1.8 liter?
What are some good rods other than eagle?

9:5 is fine. 83mm brings it to a 1.9l. As for rods Pauter are GREAT

I searched, found out step decked blocks and o-rings blocks are basically the same. That they both seal good. Their has to be a difference between them. I want to know what which way I should go...step deck or o-ring???

One more stupid question....one a scale of 1-10.. What is your rating on putting a block together if it is your first time. WHat are the pros and cons?
