Default should I get crower valvetrain?

I'm gonna strengthen to stock valvetrain for a little more rev. I'm stumped. I'm thinking about going with Crower, but All my buddy's use JUN with success, the only thing is, they have NA motors.

What are good springs and retainers to use with high rev turbo motors? What do you guys use?

I got a buddy of mine telling me that a lot of people use motorcycle valve springs and they work great. Is that true?

Crower valve train is responsible for killing two motors that I know (one mine) locally. Their cams suck, their springs are too stiff, and their retainers have a tendency to break. When any of these components fail, often times you're looking at a new motor

Id stick with JUN, Portflow, Skunk or Ferrera. But no crower. Friends dont let friends run crower valve train on VTECs

I hear that the retainer problem has been fixed.....remember reading someone hear saying that there is a noticable visual difference. Maybe Jinxproof---not too sure though.

Also on a sidenote. I have Crower springs coming to me this week. They are for my LS. These are the High Pressure/Dual Race springs. Found on crowers site here http://crower.com/cat/import/honda/valvetrain.shtml .
Just wondering if anyone had any luck running these??

i planned on going all Skunk2 except for the cam; seeing how Skunk hasn't developed a cam for the D16. I was going to go with Crower's cam, but what I've read today and heard in the past, I might pass; what's another good option for the D16?

I got my entire ferrea valve train for $900 from Port Flow. If the money if there go with Ferrea. Better yet, send the head to Port Flow for double the price.

I would do exactly that, but Port Flow informed me that they "only working on DOHC honda heads"

Same science...don't understand why they wouldn't want to do a SOHC as well.

I have ferrea package. They are $950 for the whole package. Tom at port flow did all the work on my b16 head. I don't have faith crower products.

i have seen two jun equipped cars drop valves. Still no ferrea failures... why risk it?

also ive never seen a stock retainer fail for that matter -- ask joe alaniz bout that

what i have seen from stocks fail is when too light of a valve spring is used, the valve floats, hits the piston and at that point the valve drops. If the retainer is used with a heavy spring rate, things seem to work well. I have only seen valves drop when stock sprigns were used, i mean who upgrades valve springs and uses stock retainers? Joe alaniz does. Think about it... those things are hardened steel, and steel is very very strong.

I've seen stock b16's fail. with stock valve springs, upgraded valve springs, stock cams, upgraded cams, it doesnt matter. 3 times in a period of 8 months, all different owners. None had raised rev limiters either...

i've never seen or heard of a JUN or Skunk retainer failing, at least until hearing from you. But things break, and no matter what, nothing is invincible. I've yet to see a bullet proof motor.

Jeff at IB said he can hook me up with some of his new valvetrain parts that jsut cam out....I think that's what he was trying to say. He wants 350 for a set of springs and retainers
