Default Share your SOHC turbo setups.

I'm planning on joining the dark side soon. I'll be using my d16z6 for the engine. Wondering what some of you guys are running, and what kind of power you're getting. Oh and if you don't mind an estimate of what you've spent. I'm trying to reach into the 12s with my sohc.

I am running 6psi and I just got a dyno not to long ago. The temp was 90 and humidity at like 80% and I had my 17" on and I was running rich. My best run was 149.3HP and 130.6 Torque. I just ordered an intercooler so that should help put down some more HP. I am hopping to get 180hp with FMIC 6-7psi and some timing adjustments.

That's the kit i plan on getting. How is the fitment of the apex kit. I've heard it's suposed to be near perfect. What did you pay for just the kit?

stock d16z6
garret t3/t04e 48ar 54 trim
big spearco intercooler
450cc DSM injectors
afc hack (-40%)
stock FPR and about 60psi fuel pressure at full boost.

12psi when its cool at nite and she pulls like crazy. Im guessing at 12psi im somewhere around 200-220hp @ the wheels.

My best time is a 13.4 @ 106mph in colorado at 5400 feet on street tires. here in san diego im sure i could do better...someday ill go and try. Im pretty sure i can do a 12 if i can get a good launch.

*****, bitch! that's a stock engine and running 13.4 @ 1mile high!
I am now inspired to crank my boost...on occassion

I'm running:
Greddy Manifold
Garrett t3 .48/.42
DSM intercooler (gonna get something bigger and front mount it. it's in the fenderwell right now)
DSM 450's with custom fuel trim circuit (works well, but I'm tuned way rich for the moment)
Bosch BOV
2" charge pipes
2.5" DP with 2.25 exhaust
Boosting 7psi (upping to 10 when I get the *****)

Only info I have is that it pulls hard even though the stock clutch is slipping up top.

inspyral and liam821: I see you guys are running t3/t4's in your setup.

Say 2nd-4th @ what rpm do you start to spool and when is full boost reached?
Do you like the t3/t4 on the d16?

Reason I ask is cause I am looking to turbo my sohc also. I am either going to get a revhard kit w/ comes w/ a t3/t04b (.50trim comp w/ .63 a/r turbine).
Or getting in on this GB: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=278085

Getting this turbo:
.48 A/R Turbine Housing
Stage III Turbine

.60 A/R Compressor Housing
57 Trim Compressor Wheel

Thoughts/inputs welcome...

Hey autoEXturbo:

How does the automatic transmission hold up to the turbo? Do you get any boost spikes? My wife wants more power for her 98 EX auto, and I was looking at the Greddy kit as well.

BTW, that FMIC looks bada$$!

Im running a Drag 3 kit on my single cam. It only the 1.5 non VTEC.(D15B7). Got it dynoed the other day. I just got a base run. No tunning performed. It was mainly done to check my fuel. It was like 90 degrees and humid, and she put 153whp and 145.4 tq. Not alot, but i only dynos at 86 to the wheels stock. Picked up 67 to the wheels. That was eight pounds. Now im gonna put about 11 on her *** and get everything dialed in and see if the old 1.5 can lay down about 200whp.

thanks for the compliment. I had no boost spikes what so ever, boost gauge always read no higher than 8psi and that's what i was shooting for. The tranny did great, i was very surprised. Just make sure when you do the greddy kit that if you are seriously racing when you feel it wants to shift gears, let off the gas. I know that the automatic clutch or whatever it has can slip if abused. But at 5psi, she ran strong and pulled at 14.9@94

How can you buy an IC and piping and not even know what turbo/manifold etc you're going to be using?

I'd say you are going to end up buying some stuff twice.

Mine starts to spool around 2.5-3k, full boost around 5k, maybe a little before. Turbo's pretty old, probably needs a rebuild.

D16Y8 w/ 110k miles
GReddy TD04H-15G kit w/ FMIC
RC 440cc injectors
Walbro 255lph intank pump
Hondata 2B
custom 2.5" DP
custom 3" catback
217.7whp @ 10psi
183wtq @ 10psi
180whp @ 6.5psi

Best 1/4 mile (pre-Hondata)

On 12psi- 14.1 @ 100.7 with a 2.4 60' time on stock Firestone P185's
Highest trap @ 12psi- 102mph

Only took it once since the Hondata on a set of Nitto's which sucked, pulled a 2.3 60' time but only got a 14.3 on 10psi. Haven't taken it since the new tires..

I'm planning on getting the Apex turbo kit. Will this turbo support my 12sec goal? The other kit was the rev hard 2c kit. I'm leaning toward the apex kit for the ball bearing turbo. I can get both for right around the same price.

mike....

How did the D16Y8 manifold fit in the hatch?? Did it just bolt right up, or did you have to make any mods to it?

Sweet looking ride!
