Default Shadowdawn - auto tranny

Shadowdawn, Questions - have you done anything to your automatic tranny? Have you dyno'd your car yet? Have you timed the car on the track?

I ask because I am being told the reason I am having problems with my car is that it is an automatic(98 LS). I have the DragIII kit on the car and am only pulling 150hp at the wheel. At 5000 RPMs I top out, at 7200HP I am still at 150hp. I was told that my torque convertor has a "limiter" on it so that I won't break it. Wondering if you are having the same problem or if I am being fed a line of bull sh*t.

I haven't dyno'ed/tracked my car and the tranny is still stock. I don't know about the torque converter deal, but my tranny is giving me problems. When I took it to the dealer they said its either the Main driveshaft speed sensor that needs to be replaced or the tranny is bust.... The symptons are d4 blinking and code 70 (does not go away after resetting the ecu). I just hope its the sensor, I'll update you on that, getting it replaced tomorrow. If the tranny is going then I'm saving for a manual swap, its not worth building up a broken transe

I don't know about the "limiter" deal, sounds like bs to me. It has to see the power from the engine and do something with it. Maybe it just becomes inefficient and turns it all into heat or something, but I doubt it's to protect itself.

maybe/

Do you guys still have your tranny coolers?

GET A BIGGER TRANNY COOLER if you are running that turbo in your automatic. Heat will kill you.

Yes it was like that when I got the car back, only difference was the d4 blinking and code won't go away now... Before I got code 70 a few times and dealer just reset it and said nothings wrong... well now something is and I seriously doubt a turbo that didn't even run yet caused it.

I don't know if that would be the same problem as me. I am not throwing any codes on the ECU. The only codes I was throwing was being too rich/lean. I got that taken care of, but still only hit 150hp. I appreciate the input you guys are giving.

I haven't done anything to the Tranny. I was hoping to get a little life out of the auto before I did the swap.
