Default SFWD 1200+hp Engine Build

I wanted to share this engine build for a good customer of ours, for his SFWD class race car.

This engine will use a 5500cc Kinsler plenum intake manifold, Precision billet 72 turbo, and a Motec M130 ECU

GRP Aluminum rod and Wiseco thick skirt piston with armor plating and tool steel wrist pin will handle the 11,000 rpm and 50+psi boost

The block was sent to Golden Eagle for sleeving and o-ring.

Speedfactory H11 head studs are used to keep a solid seal on the Cosworth head gasket.

4 Piston Pro 156 cnc cylinder head with oversized seats and 36mm intake valve moves the air into the cylinder 355cfm @ .600 valve lift.

We make our own valve seats from A3 beryllium bar stock. One of several things to help valve life on the exhaust side.

One of the biggest problems in these big power turbo engines is dealing with the exhaust heat and exhaust valve distortion. There is no bullet proof fix to make them last forever at Pro Mod like power levels, but you can drastically extend the life between service intervals if you can manage that heat. It is common to throw 6m and 6.5m valve stems at it, but it does interrupt some exhaust flow. We have found ways to make them last without resorting to the big stem...but honestly some guys are harder on them than others and still need that We use a special high temp alloy for the valve that can handle another 800 degrees on top of a standard Comp Plus or Inconel valve, and they are stronger and lighter than an inconel valve. The A3 beryllium seats and our special exhaust guide helps to pull heat away from the valve as quickly as possible. The cheaper guides can become brittle with the heat and break off...shooting through your $3500 turbo. It actually provides pretty good life with a standard Comp Plus valve as well.

We are using the newer Ferrea RR1004 rocker arm. It has struts on top that provides extra rigidity. With a stiff spring and high lift cam, we have observed that this rocker shows less fatigue over time than the lighter blue RR1002 rockers. Those still have their place, as they allow you to run any cam single lobe or 3 lobe...whereas this one requires a single lobe to clear the rocker. This is a billet Web camshaft.

Always new timing chain components, connected down below to our Ported oil pump to allow for 11k rpm blasts through 4th gear.

Big Kinsler for big horsepower

Thanks for reading

Lol how do you plan on hooking 1300hp in a FWD? better yet, hooking even 800hp from a 60 roll? Not going to happen. This will be a nasty track car tho.

You guys have always done impressive builds.

I was going to have you guys do the outlaw port on my b16 head, I'm assuming that's the only port you offer for b series heads? it's a road race/dd build and I'm tossing in a piston/rod motor to sort out the chassis... I am building a much more radical motor to eventually replace the first one and was going to go with grp or bme aluminum rods. opinions?

you can pm me to avoid cluttering this thread.

thanks

What is the advantage to running the Cosworth gasket if I may ask.

Its just a high quality gasket that we like to use. The JE gaskets are good as well. Typically we wouldn't use an o-ring, just a flat deck, but this was done at the request of the customer. Cometic is fine also, but their tooling only goes up to 88mm bore, so on the big bore all motor stuff we use Cosworth. This is only 87 bore so any of the above would have worked fine

Wow that is nice!

If I have any issues with the Comp Plus in my current head as my build progresses, now I know that you have some serious upgrades possible. Now where is that damn drooling smiley?
